Wishing him nothing but the worst. He always cried for calls and encouraged his teams to play a dirty game. Won three straight Coach of the Year awards but finished 4-8 against a coach who never won such an award. Wanna guess who that is? His name starts with "B" and ends with "ob Richey." I hope "Bucky Ball" ready for SEC play, I'll personally be excited to see them go 1-19 in conference play.

Anyone rejoicing over this coach moving from SU to TAMU needs to keep in mind that other SoCon schools will be similarly celebrating Furman’s loss WHEN (not if) Coach Richey gets the offer he does not want to refuse. Our day will come. Enjoy Coach Richey while we have him.
No need to waste time celebrating SU’s loss.
One source states $1.5 million a year, 5-year deal for this former SU coach.
How close can Furman get to matching that to keep Coach Richey from leaving? Maybe 45% of that?
And also how close can Furman get to matching the NIL riches that exist at many schools (of which TAMU has to the potential to be at the very top)? Maybe 5% of what TAMU already does in NIL and maybe 0.05% of what TAMU has the potential to do in NIL?

......devastating news for the Furman program :D :D :D
It is bad news since we owned Samford and Bucky ball. I was hoping he stayed at Samford for a long time.

DE is next.
He picked up a recruit or two we were following. Maybe they will opt out now if he is hired somewhere soon

Reminder NIL no longer exists it is payroll. The media wants to keep calling it that but it is strictly pay for play now.

After Chattanooga won the NIT Huff was asked about the portal. He tried to deflect the question but basically admitted that he would probably go into the portal to see what was available.

Whatever.
The outcome is the same?
Worse?
Better?
It seems that Furman is maybe still in about the same situation whether you call it NIL or salary budget.
A good explanation was in an interview on last night’s PBS News Hour. William Brangham was the interviewer. The interviewee did indicate that it would be outright salary, not NIL, by this summer. One or both of them indicated that NIL is an out-of-date term.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
