Great job as usual

FYI, if anyone has a few million$$ laying around, sounds like they could use lights on the grass practice fields and/or a new weight room

Some observations that will not be news to members of this forum:

Injuries - 6 ACL, 20 surgeries! Before we played a game! Guys we meant to RS who started. Secondary "we lost all those guys" 3 safeties and Caleb played at 75%.

Offense - acknowledged that we struggled to run it. gently critical of the RB position. Acknowledgement of how valuable Huff was.

"...some interesting things we dealt with..." No kidding. Player dies. Unprecedented series of injuries. Best offensive player charged with voyeruism and kicked off team/out of school. Campus closed for week/game canceled due to hurricane in mountains.

"... we weathered the transfer portal well...." outside Hinton no critical losses, and given early reports on King, we MAY have traded up, plus the OL and DB adds... we done good. But nice short point on "transfer credit" as this is a real limitation in our ability to hit the portal.

Exit interviews - I suspect that "why did so many guys get hurt, is there anything we can do" was a recurring theme.

Jayquan Smith callout - won't practice this Spring. 216 lb. But you listen between the lines, we won't really know until August how much we can count on him. Really hopeful he can come through but they are obviously taking is slow and trying to get it right.

Trey Hedden - lives in the office, watching film, has lost 12 pounds... hard to underestimate what it means that he is doing these kinds of things and getting in better shape.

A lot of our issues are fixable, really like where we are program wise. Acknowledges we are learning and changing.

Overall, Clay's general sense and combination of humility and strength. He is the right guy for Furman.

I think the stadium needs more lights before putting any on a practice field. Our lighting is horrible for a night game.

1. New stadium lights
2. Take old lights and light a practice field
3. End Zone project- weight room etc.......

Hopeful this can be done ASAP and not have to wait on the completion of the LIDL grocery store going in next door....

Not sure we have funds to do any of these at present.

I can provide Venmo, y'all can all chip in and I promise to transfer funds to the progrum asap.

Good summary.

After listening to Hendrix, I feel like the injury situation was even worse than we realized somehow. Sounds like we'll be a little light in a few areas during spring ball but almost everyone should be ready to go in the fall if we can stay healthy. Feels like we're due after last year.

The way he talked about Smith makes adding Davis and Grzebin really important. If Smith isn't really ready to go, they we really only have 1 RB with any experience. Given how bad his knee was, just playing at all will be quite the accomplishment for Smith so I hope he can do it.

I think it was tough on the fans to see Hinton and Chappell move on because of the high hopes we had for them, but Furman took about as little damage as you could hope for with the portal. Maybe that has to do with being 3-8, but it's nice we won't have to rebuild a major amount of depth for the second year in a row.

It was encouraging to hear that Hedden continues to put in a lot of time with Roper and that he's slimmed down. I think that will help when he decides to/has to run going forward.

Given my interests, I thought it was interesting that Hendrix said they'll sign a couple of guys this week AND they continue to recruit some other guys. I'm not sure if that means high school or portal guys, but I thought it was interesting that he made a point to mention that they're potentially still looking to add some guys. As far as the guys signing this week, I think Isaiah Davis will be 1 of them, but not sure if the other guy is Grzebin or Stein or someone else. Generally, if the school doesn't announce them, they're PWOs.

For anyone that cares about that sort of thing, it does look like some of the heights/weights have been updated on the online roster.

Short-term fix to practice field lighting that CCH mentioned was their plans to line the baseball field and use those lights some this Spring.

Key takeaway - the last two times FU finished 3-8 we made the playoffs the next season. 8-)

They say losing teaches you something. If so, we must be pretty smart by now.

Don’t mess up the baseball field. Baseball will be back soon.

Furman has plenty of money, just a question if they want to spend it.

We can take the money the basketball team makes for going deep into the NCAA tourney and pay for lights.
Poetic justice for when we played Mizzou and Auburn in the same year and the University used it for Women’s sports
Thanks God for the FFPA.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
