Hein should never touch the ball vs teams that play pressure defense.

Johnston was huge. The reason we won.

Have a lot pieces. Searching for the right combination and chemistry. Bronson should get better as he is rusty from his layoff. We need someone that can drive and and finish like Croone Sibley Fowler Bothwell.

Ugly last two minutes or so, but otherwise I was impressed by this game. Johnston can shoot it! It looks like we picked up the right guys so far.

Want to see more from Hughey and Bowser...

Agree about Hien, he was credited with 6 turnovers seemed like double that. Johnston needs more than 20 minutes. We have 2 offensively challenged big men so he needs to play more.

Also to those who thought we should just play Downtown like the old days instead of building a 'new Timmons' I think you see why that would have been a bad idea...

Unless its a big game on the weekend that is heavily promoted we just don't draw downtown...

Really hoping we get a good crowd out here Friday night when Tulane comes to town...
Attendance was 2,007 so as good if not better than Timmons on a Monday night. Funny they had to get 2 non-student adults to play name that year as no students could be found.

It was obvious that JU wasn't going to let PJ and Anderson beat them shooting 3 pointers. Man they were all over us. Belmont played some tough defense but not the pressure D JU was playing. I like the way we responded when things weren't going well in the first half. We didn't panic. Coach made some adjustments and we came out in the second half and whupped their arse.

Defense, especially in the second half was key. Hughey didn't score but came in and hustled, was a force on D, and got some rebounds. Hien played a great game except for some ball handling faux pas near the end of the game. 14 rebounds! And hit 2 free throws!

Our depth also was a factor with Johnston and House both scoring big off the bench. This team's identity is going to be many different players having big scoring games. Not necessarily the same ones every night. It was Vanderwal and Anderson against Auburn, PJ and Anderson against Belmont. Johnston didn't play much. Tonight it was Johnston, Hien, PJ, and House. It really helps to have multiple guys that can shoot the ball.

CBR seems like he is going to go with whoever is having the hot hand, and PT will be determined by that and also by the opponent's style of play, and who matches up better with who.

With a couple minutes left in the game Anderson found himself wide open for a 3. He had struggled all night to get open looks. But he didn't take the shot. He passed to a wide open player under the basket, I forget who it was, for a layup. That's one of the differences between this year's team and last years team. And also the defense is better too.

I really like this team!

Does anyone know the status of Tommy Humphries? Two straight games and not in the boxscore?

He's just not in the regular rotation yet, as a redshirt freshmen that is not uncommon, look for him next season...

Dont see how Johnston stays out of the starting lineup. Bowsers shown a bit of improvement and is still the better defender but on offense theres a night and day difference between the two. Really like the look of Bronson so far hes an excellent defender. This team can shoot the laces off the ball but in games like these were gonna have to be tough enough to hold them off the glass, and not turn the ball over to let our superior shooting win us the game.
Johnston mentioned on the radio that he has been somewhat restricted when it comes to minutes due to a couple lingering injuries... perhaps this is part of the reason. I do agree Johnston is playing great
