Slawson is different than JP. Slawson has way more nba potential than JP. Even if JP has a great year I don’t see him getting drafted which is why it makes sense for him to try to get paid nowPacoTisdale wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:37 amFU Hoopla wrote:[quote=FUATT post_id=92785 time=1730218213 user_id=1465]
The NIL thing is really hard.
If you are a guy like JP, and you think, size and skill wise, I"m not getting drafted, but I'm a damn good college player so why not get a check now and then go to the D League or Europe... which is where I was going anyway....
The hanky thing about NIL is it's not so much about the super stars. They are going to be drafted and be fine. Its the second tier guys who can monetize their college time and then end up being a decent Euroleague player, get into coaching after, and have the NIL money invested for after ball, or use to buy first condo or whatever. That's changing things as much or more than a Dillon Gabriel transferring to Oregon.
Yes and no, very possible if Slawson goes to 'Power' school and fizzles out with a coach he does not gel with that he never gets drafted...
Slawson and Richey were perfect for each other!
So money can be important, but it sure as hell can have some cases of not being smart long term...

That was never my point, my point was being made for how it worked out for Slawson who stayed, but could have potentially backfired on him if he left for a power school where things are by no means guaranteed to work out with a different coach and system...
