There is always a weekly SoCon score thread. I guess we don’t have much interest First time I recall not seeing a thread of our league scores.

I am still watching the other teams. Always enjoy SoCon and playoffs. Gotta be positive. YOLO. Even if we stink I’m gonna watch and enjoy.

Western AT Mercer
Western up early. Impressive offense by Western so far in q2. Strong LOS play be Western.
A few key runs by Gonzalez add to the pain of Mercer. A QB who can spot a lane and get 10 yards is so valuable.

ETSU. AT WOFF.
ETSU up 24 - 7. ETSU showing again how a running QB is such a valuable entity. Their QB just ran for a 30+ yard TD after a beautiful fake on the jet sweep. ETSU wins 24 - 7. To the point made by midlands. Wofford has scored 7 and 5 in their last two games. Hope they keep these coaches !!! Woff did score 31 on VMI which is encouraging for us this week

cit gonna beat Samford. Badly. Samford and woffy have no offense. Only touchdown between the two of them was on a blown coverage.

With a win in Lexington, a season reset, and a little momentum, if we do get the Samford game rescheduled I could see us beating both these sets of dogs.

Any Paladin that was on the team last year should share your sentiment. I am hopeful we will have a little extra for the terriers.

Sammy is different to me than Woff. Woff consistently struggles on Offense. A lot. Sammy hit 55! On Mercer and 28 vs ETSU. Sammy is wildly inconsistent. Wofford is consistent. Consistently lacking offense 😀

WORST THING I SAW TODAY - Mercer field set up. They might have a player hurt … maybe not … but maybe because they just have to have tables for fans too close to the field. You should NEVER have tables etc so close to the field that a player could get hurt.

He’s probably ok? WR. Dont know but that’s just HORRIBLE set up. Think he’s ok but he could have been hurt.

Same thought for hoops … or nah? Hoopsters regularly fly into and/or over the Scorers’ / Media Table, the Team benches, and the Still & Video Photographers / Camera Equipment just behind the endlines.

Right?

When Mercer decided they needed that run game at the end, they delivered some of the most determined runs I have seen in a while. Dragging tacklers down the field.

Yep … reminded FUBeAR a whole lot of another 6-play, all on the ground, big game clinching 4th quarter drive…

Yep. Running wins. We don’t have it right now.

Matter of fact I believe RUSHING yards are so key they outweigh most everything else.
To wit other keys in that game and most every game -
Turnovers 0. 0. None. Rare.
But many people look to third down conversions. I do too. At one point I think Mercer 1-10 on third and fourth down conversions Combined. That’s a loss in most scenarios.
Game ended with no turnovers. Western 8 - 18 on third down. Mercer 3 - 11 on third. That usually signals a Mercer loss. But both teams had 500+ yards. However Mercer RUSHED for 314. WCU rushed for 187. There’s the key.

FUBeAR. I Absolutely. Agree.

And congrats on the win !!!

However, that DOES NOT justify the horrible Mercer thought “hey let’s set beer tables so close to the game we almost hurt a WR. “. It should be changed in both scenarios - basketball too. TWO WRONGS DON’T MAKE A RIGHT. If Mercer doesn’t move those tables etc they are at liability for a law suit .. a guy gets hurt by hitting them next time.. . You better believe he’s got a right to sue the University and that tape from today will be Exhibit A. no excuse for it. My wife is an attorney. We all know Mercer shoulda known better to begin with BUT NOW it’s easy pickins to sue and show “why did they not move those tables after clear evidence they could hurt someone”. And despite my wife as an attorney we aren’t litigious people. Not like that. But Mercer should move those tables back a few feet and make note of the prior placement and the new placement …. They have a law school there . I am sure they will?

And in this landscape of NIL the lawsuit could involve future earnings… argument could be made he was going to leave for 80k at a G5

And I agree with you. The worst I’ve seen in a while is Vanderbilt’s basketball court where at some point you have a 3 foot drop off from the court to a different flooring. Or they had that for years - maybe it’s been changed ?

You got a few links to your many posts raging about potential injuries & lawsuits against Furman for having the Scorers/Media Tables & the Team benches right on the sidelines and the videographers/photographers and their equipment right behind the endline during home basketball games?

FUBeAR is confident you have been absolutely consistent, persistent, and relentless with your years of outrage on this topic.

If that’s the case then we need to change too. I’m completely fair and objective. Just haven’t noticed a guy going over a wicked weed table in football,

I’m confident you know I don’t follow our basketball as much. Right? My stance is pretty defensible here. I’m talking football. I care about all athletes equally … I just don’t watch our basketball much. I watch the SoCon weekend tourney in Asheville. Heck, I didn’t see us beat UVA. I was in a meeting. Point is I follow our football predominantly- even to the extent I watch other SoCon. Don’t follow bball much.

Congrats to Mercer today !!!

I hope whichever SoCin teams make the playoffs do well. Though Western irks me some as they possibly padded stats vs Furman. Karmas a biatch. Saw they had to finish vs Mercer wi backup QB. Maybe they wish they had given him - backup - more reps should Gonzalez be out a few weeks ?

College football tends to have a lot of junk on the sidelines. If you watch a big game (the SEC championship or something) there are hundreds of people, TV equipment, broadcasters, etc. within feet of the field. It's not uncommon.
