Can’t really expect a defense to hold up against 5 turnovers and one of them a pick 6. I was tired for the defense just sitting on the stands.

Players can just do so much. Very poor job by the coaches today. When have you seen a FU team try to run out the clock at the end of the half so they can only be down 17? WTH. Every pass Hedden threw was either sideways or to the sidelines. Every interception was to the sideline. The middle of the field was wide open and just ignored time after time. We have some good tight ends, they were thrown to once in the first half. Just a terrible offensive gameplan. On defense FU had ZERO pass rush. Not only did we not get to their QB we never laid a hand on him. The only thing left to save the season is beat WC which at this point seems highly unlikeky.
It took me some bourbon and some time to revisit this board.
At some point rolling the dice with a true fresh is going to come up craps. Granted, one was a 50:50 ball. One was a bad throw. One was another true fresh WR blocking when he was supposed to be catching.
I’ve also been saying our running woes start with the captain of the OL making the right read and right call. There was quite an interesting change to essentially set the OL with the most experienced group and quite frankly what I figured would be the arrangement coming into the year. 51 moved to C and you saw some things happen.
Just because you have the big arm or big butt doesn’t mean you are the right one right now.

We had a bad day. Sometimes it be that way. Like Wofford’s last year, I don’t take it as an omen of disaster. This team still did what it did at Citadel. It can still do it again.

I agree. And, I bet the SoCon champions will be tied with other 1 loss team(s).
In defense of Hedden, besides the coaches not helping him, all of our go to WR’s are under 6 feet so no big targets. Another reason why ignoring the TE’s is a head scratcher.

But we apparently did have SOME running game today. 130 yards or so. RIGHT.
Agree with AlltimeFU - just because you are larger doesn’t mean you are BETTER. maybe later. But not now. All about making reads as a Center etc

Play can be improved. But you CANNOT get guys back if season ending injuries. that’s the one thing no one can change

LOL. I’ll admit that one’s a little dumb now that I reread it. But it’s just been a Horror show and it pains me to watch. I mean we lost 40 and 8 in the LAST THREE PLAYS at Citadel. That’s crazy. Last three plays we lose Two starters!

It's been a weird year so I am willing to write off a lot. I'm disappointed but I refuse to believe that the coaches forgot how to coach or this is part of some long term trend.
However, there is a strong correlation between loosing seasons at Furman whenever we dabble in the spread and/or pass happy offenses. We have the OC we have and we are lucky to have them. Still, I like big bruising RBs and bad things happen whenever we seem to get away from that.
