Jim Cantore is a Roswell guy, so he must not be inaccurately maligned.

Biggest scouting issue right now is whether or Samford can successfully travel through the storm to get to the game.
Valid Point but I lived through the absolute worst of Hugo - didn't think about that. We didn't have power for SIX weeks.. didn't attend High School for 7 weeks !! this in Atlanta is NOTHING compared to Hugo. NOTHING. In the bend of Florida... sure. I hope everyone there is safe !! But all they - Sammy - has to do is go north a little bit. This is piddly compared to Hugo. No one in Atlanta is gonna be out of school for 7 weeks. We didn't start back to school until November. We ate well :D - neighborhoods came together and we Grilled for the whole month as everything in the freezer was going bad

My father was National Guard and they couldn't get to the National Guard base for weeks... THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A HIGHER STORM SURGE THAN HUGO ON THE ENTIRE EAST COAST. EVER.

The big issue with this storm is going to be power outages. This is going to be our storm of the century.

This ominous statement from the NWS speaks to how serious this storm is for our area.
"*URGENT MESSAGE* This will be one of the most significant weather events to happen in the western
portions of the area in the modern era. Record flooding is forecasted and has been compared to the floods of 1916 in the Asheville area."
First]. I WISH EVERYONE SAFETY. ESPECIALLY THISE IN FLORIDA AND SOUTHERN/WESTERN GEORGIA

Stay safe. Do what is right for you.

I mean no offense. But after Hugo I literally have GONE to the beach (Pawleys Island) twice during an existing hurricane. Now these were - I admit -Just Category 1s. After Hugo it has to be a category 2 for me to really think of it as much.

So by Atlanta with category 1 … I mean I don’t exactly get the concern.

I see the ominous warning from GSP. “ this will be one of the most significant weather events in the modern era for western portions of the Carolinas”. I guess we will see. I just think for GSP and ATL north it’s not too much of an issue. Some trees. Some power. But not SIX WEEKS OF NO POWER. day or days maybe.

Those in Tallahassee and big bend area. ABSOLUTELY. BE SAFE
SOUTH AND WEST GEORGIA Some.

Maybe I still can’t get over the Jim Cantore bull from years back where he acted like he was blowing sideways on the street and some dudes were just walking behind him with no problem at all. Lol

The thing is the weather channel is great to help us with these things. Great. But the Weather Channel ALSO LOVES THESE DAMN STORMS.   NOTHING CREATES RATINGS FOR THE WEATHER CHANNEL LIKE A MAJOR CRISIS. Weather channel “never waste a crisis !!!”

I MEAN NO OFFENSE. NONE.

Though “storm of the century”? Last time I heard that it snowed 3 inches. :D

Everyone stay safe !!!!!!
For the Upstate, Western NC, and NE Georgia, there has never been a storm like this one. As I hear trees fall and see flashes of power from downed power poles go down, the next 4 to 5 hours are going to be scary. Praying for all in the path of this storm.

Did this on AGS - with nice tables and such. Prolly looks like crap here - not gonna edit / clean up …. but maybe some can decipher and draw / discuss interesting inferences from this data…

QB Matchup
Name Team GP Comp Att Comp/GP Att/GP Comp % Yds TD INT YPC YPA YPG Sack Pass

Toss-up? Probably. But…the fact that any FU QB is a “toss-up” with a Samford QB, with the usual astronomical numbers Samford QB’s put up, is …
ADVANTAGE: Furman

Nothing interesting to see here, as far as FUBeAR is concerned. Both Teams need a field trip to St. Vincent’s of Lambeau where they should beg for forgiveness at the Altar of the Green & the Gold.
ADVANTAGE: Youth Football Private Quarterback Coaches

BTW - The current Starting QB for St. Vincent’s Green Bay Packers is a Roswell Hornet. Shoutout to the Killa Bees! Back when he wore the Kelly Green & White, we let him chunk it around a little bit, but we still ran the dang Football… A LOT … and WELL!!

You have to take into account - probably a significant impact on a lot of Furman coaches property and families, and administrators, support staff, etc. It takes a lot to put on a football game - parking, security, concessions, etc., and might be difficult for all parties concerned to get it done.

I'd still guess we play but I know a lot of people are going through a lot of issues and the damage and power outages appear to be severe and comprehensive.

Also, Liberty and App St in Boone is canceled.

Yeah. I was probably comparing apples and oranges. My wife drove to work today. So did her 70 year old boss. They were expected to. Consider this an inconvenience.

BUT I get it. I’m comparing HUGO on the coast with this here in upstate. No comparison. At all.

The comparison should have been with a Florida coast where this was Horrible!!!

I was mistakenly comparing apples to oranges

Folks, this is going to go down as one of the weirdest Furman football seasons maybe ever.

First the Bryce tragedy.

Then, the Josh Harris suspension

Now, we are cancelling a game in the Upstate of SC because of a Hurricane that hit Florida.

Stop it. Please stop it all now.

Exactly my point. This is a FLORIDA (somewhat Georgia) hurricane.

And now we miss one of the easier - not saying we win for sure - but easier games. We may win 3/4 games now.

And looking to next year. Every game helps you learn. More than a practice does. Exposes weaknesses. . . That’s possibly another game we don’t get to work on things. For the love of humanity. really though. Want our guys to keep getting games. And improving.

Oh. And I bet we miss Samford while Woff misses Mercer ??? Maybe they are playing. Or reschedule

The game is technically "postponed" which suggests that it may could be replayed.

Wofford hosting Mercer is still apparently on, but the time pushed back.

Crittendon's numbers are not bad. They are objectively good numbers for a QB.

However, when you look at Samford's QB numbers of the last few years, you can see that he lags behind those. I think Samford's offense is one that just requires extreme efficiency out of that position given how frequently they throw it.

Put another way, I think Samford needs close to 300 yards and 75% completions to be at peak efficiency. They are getting 210ish and 65%. When you really don't have much of a run game, that makes it tough.

Hope we make this game up. Maybe end of season or something

Giving us a heckle. So Furman can’t handle it. But Woff. 25 miles East as crow flies is hosting MERCER who came from the heart of the storm

some say well players and coaches have issues at home etc. Do MERCER coaches etc not have even WORSE issues in MACON GA ????? I bet they do. But they handled it. :)

Get a clue: https://www.furman.edu/news/furman-moni ... l-cyclone/
There is extensive flooding in the Greenville area and widespread power outages in the region, including campus. There is no indication when power will return.
No one wants to bring thousands of people to a campus that will have been without power for more than 24 hours. Triage the urgent then deal with the optional. Hopefully power is restored tomorrow, and maybe there's still an option to play the game.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
