''It wasn't the soft landing we were hoping for with Jackson,'' Giants manager Gabe Kapler said. ''We probably put him in the most difficult possible situation, both with the bases-loaded jam and then having to go back out and complete a whole additional inning.''

Giants have one of the best records in baseball.

It would only be poetic justice if a Dins player made it to both the World Series and College World Series in the same year

Perhaps.
However, you say “a Dins player” in reference to a “fairly unknown” player who is more than 13 years removed from being at Furman, and then to a different person who may have transferred away last year to some other school after baseball was eliminated.
So 2 different people, not “a (1) Dins player”.
More to the point, the Furman decision to eliminate baseball is totally irrelevant to the position that Jackson is currently in; and without Furman eliminating baseball 15 months ago, whoever the former Furman baseball player is (?) who went to the College Baseball World Series this year (? Who? To what school did he transfer?) would perhaps NOT have transferred and not have had the chance to go to play in the CWS.
So it’s a HUGE stretch to say “it would only be poetic justice”.
And poetic justice or not, the situation referred to, even if it had been known 18 months ago, would not have had any bearing on Furman’s thoroughly reasonable and thoroughly understandable (except to people who want to be not reasonable and not understanding) decision to eliminate baseball.
… In other words: “SO WHAT ?????)

wow. ok. maybe poetic justice is not the right term. SD not the educated of folks

Just sayin'... dont ya think there's even a slightest bit of "Hmmmm wow" that two Ex-Dins (probably more correctly tech term) might make it to these levels AFTER the prog was shutdown?

Again we hear from affirm aka Mr. Davis. No way in h*** was that the correct decision. I agree with SD. No way was it reasonable nor understandable. Baseball wasn’t even on the table to be cut until the last minute thanks to ED. Nothing we can do about it now. ED has spoken. Proud of JJ and he will always be a Paladin. BTW the Giants don’t have one of the best records in MLB, they have the best.

Maybe slightest bit of “Hmm” among a very small number of people. But I don’t see the “wow” part.

You appear to be holding onto your dissatisfaction and your anger about a decision that was not yours to make and about which there is “Nothing we can do about … now.”

Well…..yes. If only those of us who thought this was a terrible decision only had your Yoda like abilities to mind read ED we too could see the wisdom and bravery in her decision making.Sadly, most of us must refer to the lack of transparency and complete lack of coherent explanation in forming our views.

Former Paladin Jay Jackson, who played a now former Furman sport, struck out the side in the ninth in a 5-0 Giants win over the Braves tonight. Good for Jay, who has put in the work to make it to the majors for three different teams.

Maybe a generous gift from him to Furman is the only hope of reviving the Baseball program?

Jackson started sgainst the Dodgers last night and only lasted a third of an inning, giving up 3 runs including a leadoff home run.
