Overall I guess it was an above average year...Great jobs in football, Women's golf, and women's tennis; also women's soccer and XC. Basketball was good but disappointing didn't reach ultimate goal and didn't try to get school record for wins. Women's basketball okay. Baseball very disappointing. Both lacrosses had ups and downs

Probably about a B year...other thoughts?

Seems about right. Probably more like B+ to A-.

XC and women's golf have legit elite performers and all finished with outstanding rankings nationally. I still think one of them could win a national title one day.

Football was obviously a big surprise. To be ranked there was awesome. Another contender in the coming years. Men's hoops was probably slightly disappointing only because I think many thought they would go dancing. But in a league like the SoCon, you either win the tourney or you don't. However, the program is still on the rise and so much fun compared to a few short years ago. They were darn good this year.

Softball had a good year, women's tennis won a title, women's soccer won a title, volleyball won a title, men's tennis OK, men's soccer a little disappointing, women's hoops average. Lacrosses average. Baseball below average.

So overall pretty good year. No one was the worst in the conference I don't think. Or even close to being the worst.

I think it was an exceptional year, overall. Sure, there was some disappointment, but we can be very proud of our athletic effort this year.

#1 in women's sports + #3 in men's sports = a great year.

I think a little better showing by the baseball team probably was the difference there.

Great overall year. We have a few programs right now that I think are nationally relevant. Not just SoCon good, but nationally good.

How far we’ve come in men’s basketball when 23-10 (13-5) is “slightly disappointing”. Not being critical of that grade because that’s what my first instinct was, more of a reflection on how far we’ve come.

As far as overall, the OP hit the nail on the head. Very good but not great. I’d trade women’s XC success for a SoCon Tourney title and trip to the big dance in men’s hoops. With all respect to the XC team.

Agreed on the second part. It's awesome that we have some nationally relevant sports and I give them a solid fist pump when they do something great nationally, but unfortunately they don't bring in the big paychecks like a men's hoops title and NCAA trip would. Meaning I don't know what the private donations look like because we are good in XC or golf, but I do know the NCAA isn't writing us a big check for being successful in those two sports.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
