No private knowledge here... but I just don’t know of many D1 schools ( even FCS) that only carry 2 scholarship qbs into summer camp. Hopefully if there is not a transfer then one of the two returning qbs will have developed into a legitimate playmaker on a team that has a lot of pieces returning. Just unusual to be that thin at QB especially when Hendrix has done such a good job of developing the roster. You mentioned graduate transfers... any non graduate transfer possibilities?

Andrew David P 5-9 / 179 0.8069 (HS) ImmediateTCU
Wade Lees P 6-2 / 204 N/A (HS) Maryland

I think “Immediate” means (usually) Grad Transfer. Probably need to check this list from 247 though - sez it was updated 2 hours ago, but the one who went to W&M (from CCU), which was announced 2 days ago, was still on the list....and I just found 1 that was on here from Air Force (so I looked him up) just announced he’s headed to Richmond 4 days ago. Richmond paper says he just may be their 2019 Starter.
Welp...I think FUBeAR just answered your question - https://twitter.com/lukeshiflett?lang=en

I just think that if the coaching staff was super concerned about depth at QB, you'd have seen a much bigger push this winter at the position. Especially because it appears the coaching staff appears to be all in recruiting a QB for the 2020 class.

Realistically, if we are in a position where we have to rely on our third or fourth QB, whether on scholarship or not, it isn't going to be good for the season outlook.

FuBear thanks for posting this - I stumbled on Shiflett a while back, and I wasn't sure if I should post. Shiflett appears to be a very good athlete, converted to wide receiver and I believe played in every MTSU game last season as a true freshman.

My guess is he gets a shot at QB, but he could quickly work his way on the field at receiver.

IF I had “inside” / non-public knowledge, I would not have posted either, but if it’s on Twitter & Instagram...IMO, it’s inside the lines.

Knowing QB’s...he’s transferring to FU BECAUSE he wants an opportunity to play QB.

An interesting comparative tale might be the travels/travails of current WVU WR, NFL prospect, David Sills (who, by extension, BTW, has some Paladin DNA)...check out his long & winding road. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_S ... _football)

Nice pick-up.
I watched his Junior and Sophomore HS highlight videos and he reminds me a lot of Blaze. He's very accurate on the 10-20 yard passes, can throw it deep when needed, is a shifty runner, and isn't afraid to take a hit.

That is exactly what Coach told me a month or so ago. He is comfortable with what he has and is concentrating on bringing in a QB in next year's class so as to fill in the depth & development considerations. Which is not to say that if someone that is a good fit falls into his lap, he wont take him. This looks like a win-win situation to me. If the transfer shows a lot at QB, that is great and if he does not, FU acquired a proven athlete from an FBS level program. Good pick up.

Extrapolating, but going into last fall, Tony Franklin didn't name a backup and had Shiflett in the mix for QB2 at MTSU.

https://goblueraiders.com/news/2018/8/3 ... backs.aspx

The fact that he played a bunch at WR with an entrenched senior starting QB suggests the kid can play. Basically, you are in the mix for backup QB, but we have a long-term starter, so we will find another way to get you on the field.

Again, reading between the lines and looking at that long list of QBs on MTSU's roster, I agree with you. He probably saw a career-long backlog at the position and decided to go elsewhere.

Well.... there you go. Hopefully between Shiflett and our current QBs we will have adequate depth and one can become a solid starter. Looked him up on internet. From what I can see he is very athletic.

Here's what MTSU OC, Tony Franklin, had to say about Luke Shiflett on signing day in 2018...

With 4 years eligibility? Correct?

Did a little more internet research. Shiflett broke his ankle his senior year ( non surgical). Was a State finalist in 100m in class 4A. Legitimate 4.5 guy. GT was hot on him... in fact 24/7 crystal ball prediction him at 100% GT before the broken ankle. Saw where he was on deans list at MTSU fall semester. He was selected to the Rising Seniors Junior Bowl where he was teammate of Justin Fields. He even punted last year in a game or two for MTSU. His athleticism and quickness might be a perfect for our offense. If not at QB he could help somewhere. Good pick up Here is a link to Georgia HS recruiting site. https://recruitgeorgia.com/blue-raiders ... -shiflett/

Chatt Times Free Press male athlete of year finalist as junior. https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/spo ... ed/435136/

If you just google him and do some surfing there are numerous links and articles.

Punted, you say...hmmm. Reckon has FU ever had another speedy FBS QB Transfer in, who was also a Punter?

If so...how did that go?
