Player to watch

Taylor, a senior guard, came into this season with the reputation as one of the best players in the state, and he certainly lived up to it, leading the Redhounds with 28.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. The Furman signee is currently third all-time in the state with 3,588 career points, behind only King Kelly Coleman (4,337) and Charlie Osborne (3,647). He’s also 19th all time in rebounds. “He’s the best I’ve coached in 17 years here,” Pietrowski said. “Obviously, if you watch him play you see the ability he has. I think what a lot of people don’t know about him is his work ethic. He’s a kid who is literally in the gym every day improving his game.”

Watched the Corbin game. They won 50-40 in a game that was much closer than the final score. AT scored 15 points. He had 6 baskets all gimmes around the rim. Did not hit an outside shot, but didn't shoot a lot. He was 3-6 from the free throw line. He has a brother that is a sophomore. They play again at noon Friday. Hoping to see the real AT in that one.

Taylor had an effective all around game today. He finished with 15 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals while only turning the ball over twice. Corbin is known for scoring and shooting but they turned up the defense today with 10 steals and 17 turnovers forced. They also had 6 more rebounds.

They play Scott County, the #1 rated team in the state, on Friday. Scott County outlasted Trinity 54-53 behind 6'7" junior Michael Moreno's 24 pts. 9 rebs. and UNCC signee Cooper Robb's 12 points, which included a game winning 3 with 5 seconds left.

Scott is now 35-1 and is a very small school with only about 350 students. I didn't realize AT was the tallest player on his team. He was not aggressive on offense at all today which really surprised me.

Where did you see 350 students? According to Wikipedia, Scott County has over 2400 students and has the largest enrollment in Kentucky. LINK

Corbin has a little over 900 students.

Corbin lost to #1 Scott County today in the round of eight by a score of 73-62. After Corbin took an early 5 point lead at 17-12 Scott County changed defenses and began trapping and double teaming Taylor to get the ball out of his hands. By halftime Scott County had built a 5 point lead of their own. In the second half Scott County built a 20 point lead before Corbin made a late rally and cut the margin to 9 with a minute to go. Three point shooting was the difference. Corbin shot 37% for the year but only 5-26 today.

Taylor finished with 25 points, 12 rebs, 5 assists, 2 blocked shots, 2 steals, and 2 turnovers. Scott County was led by Covington with 20 points, most on 5 made threes. Guard Cooper Robb,a UNC-Charlotte signee, had 11 points and 5 rebounds. Scott County junior center Moreno had 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots.

Bothwell wins 2nd Ohio D-IV Player of the Year

Very impressive. Is it possible we could have 2 starting freshmen at guard sometime next season? Of course this year we started 4 guards.
Two freshman starters is a stretch. Taylor could probably benefit from a redshirt year.
