Watched Huff run for 3 TDs today for Jax State vs Houston in between watching the Furman game. Makes me appreciate how much of a factor he was in our success over the past two seasons. In this game today, it is essential to have a QB with his brand of athleticism and capability to have a good offense. He was no great passer but good enough to make defenses respect him. We need to scour the portal for a dual threat QB who makes sound decisions for next year and beyond. We just don’t have anyone near his level of ability. The time where you can build a winning team at this level with only HS recruits is over and we need to deal with that, academic standards notwithstanding. BTW, did Tyler retire from the U S army already? The army I was in had us jumping out of planes and not over tacklers 😏

Totally agree with you but doubt they will go get that QB. They need to get a good QB because they don't have one despite the he'll get better narrative which is bunk in my estimation.
Nobody wants to suffer through this kind of season next year but it doesn't look like they are pre disposed to fix it...hope I am wrong..

Huff is in his 6th year. Years 4 and 5 were at Furman. Heddon and Jones in year 4 will be greatly improved over year 1. Portals are dangerous and can open vortex you don’t want opened. Possumry and mojo not discounted.

Mercer's QB doesn't run and they did O.K. I don't think it's fair to compare a true freshman QB with one in his 6th year. Heck, Huff didn't play much when he was a freshman and soph at PC.

I don't think our problem is at QB other than youth. The problem was no running game to take some pressure off the passing game. I do agree that we should try to get some good players in the portal if we can but that's not easy for us. A proven offensive lineman or 2 might not be a bad idea. But we do return most of the OL and they should be better next year.

We had a ton of young players get a lot of playing time this year and that should pay dividends in the future.
