Sam Herder already out with a preseason Top 25. Explanation for rankings in his podcast. Paladins are #5! This is where we want to start so we can STAY high in the polls during the season.

Everyone falls over themselves about the Missouri Valley, but it isn’t exactly dominating on this top 25.

North Dakota State doesn’t play an FBS team, has 6 home games, a neutral site game that is essentially a home game (Minneapolis), and avoids playing one of the MVFC’s ranked conference opponents in the regular season (YSU).

Also appears not to be much love for the CAA - 3 teams total and two at 23 and 25?

Bouncing off of Jackal's thoughts on conferences - is there any imminent possibility that there will be FCS conference re-alignment in response to all the pieces moving in FBS?

Who knows. The SoCon has 9 football teams.

The CAA has 15 football teams.
The MVFC has 12 football teams
The Big Sky has 12 football teams

The OVC and Big South appear to be combining. I guess that is 10 total teams.
The Southland has 8 teams.

It would seem that most of the teams that are going to jump to FBS have already done that.

nope... who wants to play Elon again
I believe we played Elon at least four time since they left the conference after the 2013 season.

No to the CAA, only one team within 6-7 hours, most a lot further. They are slowly becoming the MEAC north. I would be willing to bet the CAA offer has already been turned down.

As frustrating as being part of the Southern Conference is at times, it seems to be the best fit for Furman athletics in 2023. Stability is at a premium right now in college sports, so being in a position where you feel comfortable with both your conference and division for the foreseeable future is a real boost for Furman.

Calling it now, UConn to the BIG12 and FU hoops to the BIG EAST, new rivalry with Villanova formed :D
FU football can continue to rule the SoCon!

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
