Thoughts -

Good
- a lot
-500 yards of O. Allowed 100 yards. Wow
- LOVE THE OL ( love it !!!)
- Love the RBs
- punted once. Wow
- the entire D - WOW. The D allowed nothing. Nothing. The only thing I would say is I’m not sure they had a downfield threat - the QB transfer looked more confident running than throwing.

The maybe
- is western that bad or are we that good. The answer is probably somewhere between. I think we will win a lot and they will lose a good many

Few bad
- the interceptions. We Do HAVE to clean that up. A great team would take those TOs and have 21 points on us if we keep throwing like that - a few overthrows and a few underthrows / a few thrown too hard.
- punt returns. Maybe. We seemed to let a few too many of these roll by. Their punter had A good day. He was also used a lot which is nice :D

Relentless.

That's about as fast as I've seen a Furman offense move. Back after back pummeled the WCU defense. Our running backs were 5 yards downfield before even meeting a WCU defender.

This will be our best defense since the mid-2000s. WCU isn't a great offense, but they did absolutely nothing all game. Completely outmatched. Furman was wholesale running a different defensive front on alternating drives.

Sisson looked good. He had a bad pick early, but settled in and ran the offense. When you can run the ball like we can, you need a QB that makes smart decisions and keeps us on schedule.

Sisson could have let that bad int crawl up in his head and screw up the whole game. But he shook it off and played real good.

What about this Roberto wrecking ball dude? Did we expect him to be this good?

Just a few observations.

1. Our O-line really carried us today: their DL got pushed back 2-3 yards on every running play. While I enjoyed seeing that, I hope we can replicate it with future opponents.
2. Our secondary was excellent. Even when Western's new QB had plenty of time he struggled to find an open receiver.
3. Western may not win a game this spring. They are small and slow.
4. Our special teams need improvement, especially the return units.
5. Our receivers need to help Sisson more. Sisson looks quicker on his feet than I remember him.

533 yards to 109 yds
33 first downs to 5
Kept the ball for 41+ minutes.
Half of WCU yardage on last drive.
Scored every possession except last drive and when we turned it over.
Pretty darn good for a first game.

What attendance number was announced?
If no announcement (or even if there was one), what do people on here estimate true attendance was?

The box score on Furman's website lists the attendance as 1994. That feels about right to me.

Here's an odd stat.

Our defense completely overwhelmed WCU, and our leading tackler had 4 tackles.

I would have to think 42 yards passing on 10+ attempts has to be some sort of notable milestone. You don't see that every day

Yeh, that Penn transfer didn’t look like an Ingle Martin type program changer.

Talked to a FU Athletic Administration at the game today and he said we were limited to 2300 max today....

Yes, he was a force last year(2019). Actually looks like he has slimmed down some.
