FURMAN 45 - Mercer 10 ...

in other news: (we could use more wins for SoCon)
Wofford 49 - 10 over Gwb
Citadel 22 - 13 over CSU (how do you beat GT and barely beat CSU?) - CSU out gained Citadel by a good bit
JMU beats Chatt 37-14
Robert Morrs beats VMI 31-21

ETSU has the ball and a 17-14 lead over Austin Peay with less than 2 minutes to go in the game. ETSU intercepted a pass and returned it to the AP 35 yard line. They now have it at the AP 20 yard line.

Samford will beat Alabama A&M easily. They lead by 34 points with less than 5 minutes left.

Pretty sure Citadel's starting QB did not play.

you are correct, he didn't ... but he also didn't play 4th q at GT or OT and the backup led them to a win there

I think ETSU is going to be a bit like Mercer, but with a better defense. Austin Peay had big win against the Bears, but the margin was skewed a bit by two pick sixes.

I tried to say that last week and I felt not many were listening. LOL On that I was right... stay with me as I admit I was really really WRONG (and glad to eat crow !!!) about a nail-biter with Mercer !!! I was big-tim wrong !!! :D And I am so glad I was wrong !

Yes, first scout (is rare you get a non-conference team who played both our opponents the week before! conference yes, but FCS non-conference to watch and scout is odd and nice)
AP beat Mercer 48-34 in a game of 3 turnovers by. Mercer and a punt block... and two of the APy went for pick six
ETSU beat AP (and I am glad they did for SoCon status) 20-14 in a defensive battle. Pick sixes or no (vs Mercr) ETSU clearly played w more defensive gusto than Mercer did. Not surprising as they have preseason D player of year in Nasir Little a 6'5 DL who might get NFL looks. ETSU did lose to VMI in a shocker in OT the week before .

I’m not so sure the SoCon gets more than one team in the playoffs this year. The OOC play has been pretty poor overall.

SoCon hasn’t done well outside of Furman and Citadel. Though Wofford and Samford and ETSU helped yesterday. Especially ETSU. Some will depend on SoCon record. I think a 7 win team ( in league) would probably go even if two of them

Saw a link on FCS had us as two bid league. Hope so.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
