All of the above. There are two sides of every story and multiple perspectives to most things.

Huge loss if the NG of the last 6 games shows up. However, prior to that he was probably the biggest disappointment of the year. Time will tell.

Certainly we will miss him. I think we would have been a much better team this past year if we had not lost Tre Clark.

One of the comments Gurley made in interviews since announcing his desire to transfer that really caught my eye was the one about transferring so he "could play his game." My guess is that he sees himself as a wing or perimeter player who can post smaller guys up and coach Richey saw him as a very quick and agile low post threat who can also hit an occasional three. Very different roles.

I agree about missing Tre Clark this season. He wasn't a great offensive player but he could give you some great defensive stops and really hustled. There were several occasions this year when opposing guards were going one-on-one against our guards effectively that I wished Clark was still here. This season at Rice must have been a disappointment. He started a few games early in the year but ended up with a significant drop in playing time - from 19 minutes a game to 13. Every important stat was worse for him this year at Rice.

Agree. We really missed a player like Clark and it just goes to show that he probably would have been better off staying at FU, from a pure basketball perspective. I know FU would have been better off.

On the other hand if he liked the grad program at Rice and that was more important, then he made the right decision.

Every team in the SoCon has at least one player in the portal. All but FU and Citadel have 2 or more.

It matters which guys are going to the portal. If the end of your bench wants to go play in Peach Belt, that’s good for everybody.

Just wait until the Supreme Court rules that players can get paid. The transfer portal will triple.

Final 8 according to Noah: Auburn, Florida, Alabama, San Diego State, Duke, Tennessee, Marquette, Miami. Decision next Sunday. Would think he could start immediately for a few of those teams and be near first person off bench for the rest. Really hope he doesn’t go to Duke. Don’t need Coach K treating him like a piece of meat for 1-2 years.

Taking off the Purp glasses, SD offers this commentary...

If SD were Noah, SD would seriuosly reconsider transferring out for the following reasons:

1. Noah is on the radar now. Some of the best coaches in the country have validated that he is good enough to help their team
2. With Noah, Dins will probably be a NCAA tourney team next year in the SoCon. Other schools cant guarantee that
3. Noah will be the star player on that Dins Team and the SoCon. If he xfers no telling what that role he will play
4. Noah could have a "Stph Curry" type impact which would draw tons of national attention
5. Recruiting coaches promise much but once signed.. all bets are off.
6. Noah will have enough weapons around him to take the pressure off. He doent have to carry the team on his back nite to nite
7. Noah has 2 years left. If things work out he could turn pro next year. If not he can still xfer out and start a post grad degree somewhere

Frankly, the most guaranteed road to the next level with the most knowns and options, now that he is recognized as a top flight prospect, is to be the star player on his team and league and even lead the team to a deep run in the NCAAs

SD's opinion but pretty sound IMHO

Very good points and I agree for selfish reasons. He is going from a known to unknown, could still transfer next year but he is star struck now and has visions of being the #1 pick in the NBA draft fueled by outside and inside influences that he can’t see through. Once he lands somewhere the spotlight goes away and he becomes just another good player on a presumably good team.

You're completely delusional if you think NG has visions of being the #1 NBA pick. I get that you like to cook up your ridiculously negative/miserable posts with giant scoops of hyperbole....but this is simply ignorant.
Just stop already...move on.

Why would anyone go to St. John’s where 7 players just left?

I honestly believe this is a hit-or-miss RISK for Noah and that he may end up not improving his pro opportunities at all.
It is the year of the transfer. Many teams have wholesale players leaving, so St. Johns is not alone. They already have replaced 2 or 3 of the ones that left. It's wild in college basketball.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
