My source tells me we were paid about $90,000 by LSU and by Villanova and a little less than that by Loyola. He laughed at the idea that we paid those teams to play us at their place.

So in reading between the lines from what others have posted, we literally can't afford to pay better schools to come to Timmons, so a handful every year need to be very small schools that are cheap. Which makes sense and is completely fair. Still seems crazy that some of the schools we pick are cheaper options than a Newberry or Lander that can come up and back in the same day with no hotel expenses, but whatever. Even with mediocre schedule, we are/were in contention for an at-large spot in the NCAAs. I can't ask for much more as a mid-major fan.

Exactly, and as has already been stated, our OOC schedule has not hurt us. We control our own destiny to get into the Big Dance. It starts on Saturday. Actually, it starts today, in practice. Go Paladins. Beat Mercer.

It is my understanding that the OOC D1 mid-major games we have are 1 for 1. No money changes hands. Could be exceptions but makes sense.
