Interesting article from STATS FCS on concerns across the FCS landscape going into 2019 http://www.fcs.football/cfb/story.asp?i ... 9621981104

Highlights:
- the CAA had a lot of post season qualifiers last year, but most were quickly ousted. Three of those six have new coaches in 2019.
- A large chunk for the final Top 25 lost QBs this season. Most of those were three year + starters.
- NDSU, a perennial contender, lost their head coach and the largest senior class in their history. They return only seven starters and play a tougher schedule.

My take away is that the national landscape in the FCS might be ripe for Furman to reposition itself in the conversation. We already know we can compete with the top 25 teams

Let’s make sure we at least take care of business in the SoCon, including all SoCon teams inside the top 25 and below the top 25.
Plus CSU and PU of course.

That's a lot of players gone for ndsu but they seem to develop players better than anyone. Lose Carson Wentz (much better than Ingle Martin per the NFL) ? NO PROBLEM. Just keeping on winning national titles. I'll believe they aren't solely the one force in FCS when I see it. They don't have many more NFL players than Harvard.. but they sure are a sh*tload better. They just develop tons of great FCS players. From Carson Wentz to Stick (much lower but still taken by NFL) it's just another title in NOrth Dakota

and yes, let's see if we can beat ETSU and Mercer for now... I know that wasn't your point - you were just pointing to the overall FCS and your points are valid for sure. But let's see how our QB situation goes and can we win 7/8 games before I worry about Colgate and NDSU and JMU and...

my humble opine: This is the year before we really start to click in 2020 with a mature QB and a bunch of CH players and coaching... still might be a year away here in 2019. So impressed CH got us to the playoffs in 2017 and SoCon champs in 2019 !

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
