I agree with you about the schedule quality.
On 7/2, I think you posted that the season starts 11/9.
Just asking: is that true for the start of our season, or just the official start “nationally”?
Does FU have a game then?
If so, is it home or away, or “TBD”?

11/9 is the national start date and is on a Tuesday. Furman has always opened on the official opening day IIRC so I suspect we will have a game on that day even if its a home game with a non-D1 opponent.

No one is giving up on the team but do we have anyone on last years team that you think can replace them and not miss a beat? If so please let us know. Anyone capable of scoring 30 like both Mounce and Gurley were capable of? Maybe a newcomer but replacing those type of players with freshmen is prolly not happenimg. If you think ths years team will be as strong as the last few years please explain.

No, not at all. I’m hopeful for some surprising breakouts and a successful season.

I’m curious though about the secret sauce behind this improved OOC. Is it simply CBR’s additional experience & relationship building? Or is it easier to secure such a schedule only with a perceptibly weaker team? Or something else?

On paper we had more talent last year and that was “our year” IMHO. Hopefully this year’s team can over-perform. So much of the game is mental as Wofford has proven time and time again. Intangibles, hard work etc. The OOC schedule will help prepare us for conference play.

Agreed that it will help prep us for conference play. Regarding getting this type of schedule on the books, we had a good one lined up for last year that got wrecked by COVID, so I think CBR has been trying to do this for a little while now, just got delayed a year.

Usually from the other team or someone who knows tweets etc. Pretty likely we will know the ooc schedule before it is announced as we akready have over half.
