An interesting anecdote.

I attended my son's school play this morning. I talked to another dad in the class, who in a former life coached high school football in both Virginia and Georgia. I posed to him the question of whether he had ever seen an offensive line shift before the snap like Furman started doing this season. He told me that he had.

He said that there was one high school team in Virginia that would periodically shift their offensive line before the snap to unbalance the line. Interestingly, he said that the head coach of that team (I don't know who) was a former Furman player from the late 80s.

Of course, both Furman's head coach and OC were on staff with the Paladins in the late 80s. Could be this old school "wrinkle" to the offense has just been buried in the play book for decades.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
