And yes, I realize it could be a purely academic exercise, but if we win out and Samford beats Chatt and Western... I think that's five two loss teams on top of the league.
Interdasting.
Can you lay that out in a chart … something like this…
Ok so it would not happen but I will tell you the most interesting scenario I see - and I'm not saying it happens, but what a headache...
Furman runs the table.
Mercer runs table but loses to Furman last game.
Both are two loss in the SoCon. And we own the H2H. But...
Sam runs the table. And, WCU loses to SAM/ETSU, ETSU loses to MER/FU, and UTC loses to WCU SAM.
So, SAM, FU and MER are only 2 loss teams and FU AND SAM have the H2H with MER..
Do they have to find a way for us to play SAM? Some other tiebreak? Coin flip?
(YES I REALIZE HOW UNLIKELY BUT POINT IT, THERE IS STILL SOMETHING TO PLAY FOR AND THE SAM GAME COULD STILL BE A BIG DEAL)

OK … got it. So, your scenario, with a few non-determinant, discretionary adds by FUBeAR would look like this…
And, in this scenario, whichever Team won a (currently) hypothetical game between Samford & Furman would gain a share of the SoCon Championship AND capture the SoCon Autobid (because 3-way tie w/Winner of FU vs. SAM being 2-0, Loser would be 1-1, and Mercer would be 0-2). If Furman lost that hypothetical game, @ 6-6/5-3 would almost certainly not receive at an At-Large bid. And, if Samford lost, @ 7-5/5-3 (w/FUBeAR granted win over TTU), would have a highly remote shot at an At-Large bid.
In this event, FUBeAR would wager that both Teams would want to resolve the issue and only Mercer (who would get a playoff bid @ 9-2 FCS) might object, but the Bears would really have no ‘standing’ to object. However, FUBeAR feels, neither Team would want to resolve it with a coin toss (or similar) and this would probably give Mercer some standing to object because the Bears would retain the higher winning % if no actual game is played. So, FUBeAR would wager that Furman & Samford, over Mercer’s fuming, yet probably standing-less objection, would resort to an old HS Playoff Tiebreaker standby …
THE MINI-GAME!! (if the NCAA will allow AND just be willing to ‘slot’ “SoCon Autobid - Furman or Samford” into the bracket)
So…FUBeAR would bet that Samford would come to Furman on Monday Evening 11/25 (both exhausted and sore from their amazing respective wins over WCU & Mercer) and do something like this (GHSA Mini-Game rules)…
GHSA TIE-BREAKER MINI-GAME PROCEDURE (Modified for the college game by FUBeAR)
1. The game will consist of two ten-minute halves. Standard NCAA game rules (including OT) and scoring are used.
3. There will be a five-minute intermission between the halves.
4. Each team will be given 2 timeouts in each half.

Well, I see I got the scenario thinking going...in head-spinning fashion. Thank you to the folks adding to it and even the 3 way tie with 2 losses. I didn't have that one.
I'm a sucker for drama and hope with all I've got to get to a 3 way tie, Sam/FU having to battle it out.
Dizzy with excitement that with just a little bit of “help,” we can still win the SoCon & get the AutoBid?
Same with FUBeAR!!
Gotta take Step 1 in LexVegas on Saturday. AND be Mercer, WCU, and Samford fans (FUBeAR thinks) this week.

Let's go!!
Upon further cogitation, it wouldn’t be a 3-tie. It would be a 2-way tie between the winner of the proposed Mini-Game and Mercer. And both would own the H2H over Mercer, this owning the SoCon AutoBid … so, same outcome, but even simpler.
EASY-PEASY!!

In that very unlikely scenario MU would be alone in first place with one more win. Promise you it would not even get a thought from the SoCon much less any effort.

Nope - the Samford @ Furman Mini-Game would count as a Full Game in the SoCon standings. Think of it as if it were a game shortened by a lightning storm or when Teams agree to shorten the game or play with a running clock. Also, Mercer really wouldn’t lose anything. They would still be SoCon Champions (albeit shared & everyone would know/say that Furman’s or Samford’s SoCon Championship would have an asterisk beside it). At 9-3 overall and 9-2 FCS, Mercer would get an at large bid. And the Committee’s Seeding process does not prioritize Solo Conference Champions over Shared Conference Champions. So, the Bears really wouldn’t have any standing to object and no (real) good reason to object.
And, the SoCon would DEFINITELY want to do it. With this scenario, it’s the only way the SoCon gets 2 Teams in. Other Conferences might object because 1 of them would ‘lose’ an At-Large bid, but too bad, so sad for them. The Student-Athletes from Furman & Samford are ENTITLED to play this game that was stolen away from them by that mean ol’ force majeure. We have to put Student Athletes first in all decisions. Can you imagine the emotional trauma they might suffer if they were not allowed to play their full schedule thru no fault of their own.

Does FUBeAR - in his Ursine Wisdom - foresee a Furman Victory in Maconga?
In this scenario, the Paladins are definitely winning @ Mercer!

I do have an edit to the mini-game. Since the date of the said game wasn’t on the regular season schedule it must be played with Sophomores and younger players!!

Agree??
Now, you’re just being ridiculous.
FUBeAR was just about to print out this thread to present to VPADJD to get the wheels in motion in getting the necessary buy-in, approvals, and to begin planning for the Mini-Game and now FUBeAR is going to have to edit out these posts.
