What about No. Arizona knocking off Eastern Washington? Big Sky championship is tonight and I think bottom-feeder NAU is going to take it (the other finalist, Montana St. had to endure a double overtime fight with Weber St. last night — their legs are shot while NAU is fresh)

All of the teams in Big Sky are ranked lower than Furman and it will be a 1 bid league. So no help there.


Other help could come if multi bid conferences have a champion with a ranking lower than Furman winning their tourney (ex Syracuse kenpom 120 wins ACC and doesn’t rise too much in the rankings in the process)

Jerry Palm with CBS Sports still has us 14 seed, playing against Baylor in Orlando (West Regional).

Joe Lunardi has us as 14 seed, playing against Marquette in Columbus (South Regional).

The Athletic has us as 14 seed, playing UConn in Albany (South Regional).

Nobody knows, but it sure is fun to keep up with.

A funny thing about it all is last year's UTC team got a 12 seed with the same 27-7 record as us, no doubt in my mind we are better than that UTC team from last year and yet they still are saying a 14 seed for us, just goes to show that the SoCon being weak still finds a way to hurt us even as an automatic qualifier. Maybe last year there was a bunch of really weak teams that won automatic bids and that bumped UTC up I don't remember.

I think it has more to do with the strength of the SoCon. The conference NET ranking in 2022 was 12. The SoCon fell to 20th this year. Yet another reason to want the teams in the SoCon to do well, especially in OOC games.

That's what I was thinking, weak SoCon hurts us, even when we clearly have a better team than UTC had last year and yet they got a 12 seed, if we are going to stay in this league we gotta figure out a way to make it better.

Both Utah Valley and Sam Houston lost in their semi-finals. Might help if Yale loses today or tomorrow. Iona is playing the #11 seed in their CG so no help there.
