I have watched Samford's last two games so here's a scouting report:

They press full court the entire game and that's very annoying. We will need to make them pay for that. They go 9 deep and all of them can play.

They shoot it pretty good and are good at finding the open man. Their defense is not bad but both ETSU and Western were able to get in the paint and score the last 10 minutes of both games. Neither ETSU nor Western could shoot it good enough to win.

Glover did not play at ETSU but he did against Western but he didn't start. He was very good.

The match-ups:

Glover/Pegues - Glover will be a handful for Pegues, but Pegues could be that way on the other end too.
Rillie - he's been playing in place of Glover. Doesn't score much, handles the ball well, passes well and plays good D.
Parham/Bothwell - Bothwell is going to be hard to handle
Dye/Slawson - Dye is tough down low and can hit the 3, but so can Slaw. I give the edge to Slaw.
Johnson/Foster - Johnson is primarily a role player and I think this could be a good matchup for Foster.
Marshall/Hien - This is going to be tough for Hien. Marshall can hit the 3, take it to the rim, and is a good offensive rebounder.

They might put Foster on Marshall and Hein/Williams on Johnson. Might also rotate Hien on Dye for part of the game.

I could see Williams starting if Hien is not 100%. We're gonna need Hughey too.

They have 4 players that come off the bench and play a lot. But so do we.

It should be a great game but I think the clock will strike 12 for Sammy.

Very sad we have many students that don’t know this already. With such continued “unawareness,”it will make recruiting even more difficult and will be difficult to make greater Greenville true hometown of FU PALAdins. We are located in the City of TR with city taxes, etc.
Furman address is: 3300 Poinsett Hwy, Greenville, SC 29613
We are 6 miles from the heart of downtown Greenville and Bon Secours Wellness Arena, pretty dang close ;)

Student turnout and 'awareness' grows every year, nothing is sad about that, every school in the country outside of the blue bloods has to do good marketing within its student body to get large crowds out for games. Nothing wrong with that just do what needs to be done, that's all.
The more NCAA tournament apperances we garner the larger this thing will grow, that's with students, alumni, and the Greenville community, just gotta keep winning and bigger things will always come!

Samford tries to jump you with the press if you aren't concentrating. They are also good at collapsing into the paint quickly and knocking the ball loose when you try to dribble too much, especially the back to the basket moves. Glover is very good at that.

Glover is super quick and hard to stay in front of. He also pulls up for the mid-range jumper, which you don't see that often these days, and is very good with it. Don't reach and foul when he shoots it. If you play solid and smart he will sometimes play sloppy. Dye reminds me of Rafferty. He is slightly taller and a better three point shooter, but not as good on defense or as a passer. Stay in good position and make him shoot over your hands, don't foul. Samford gets to the FT line a lot.

I hope these “more NCA A tournament appearances we garner” come as multiple games per season. We don’t have to be a one and done just because we’ve gotten in. Let’s stay a while.

Proof that Samford is inflating attendance figures this season by ALOT!

Samford does not roll out top section bleachers at all in their arena, not last year or this year.

Last year against Furman the bottom bowl was nearly full and Samford announced attendance 2,500

This year Samford has yet to fill the bottom bowl in their arena, yet they announce crowds of 3,200 3,000 and 3,500 for past 3 home games.

Wow, probably inflating actual attendance figures by about 1,000 extra each game, lol

Yes I noticed that the UTC game. They did have a good student crowd but outside of that the lower section was nowhere close to full.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
