This is another good example of Furman's getting matchup advantages.

Furman's tweak in the formation gets Miller matched up against a CB and Gordon matched up against a Safety. There aren't many (any?) safeties in the SoCon that can cover Gordon one on one.
Definitely a matchup issue there. That Safety for Samford was a 5-10/201 3rd Team walk-on R-JR making his 3rd-ever start @ Furman due to Samford’s rash of injuries at Safety last year. No doubt that FU’s Coaches knew that & formationed/motioned into the matchup they wanted. Much like the PGA Tour Players...those guys are GOOD!

“Flash” Gordon certainly has smokin’ jets, but there are better & quite a bit faster Safeties in the SoCon than that particular Player.
yep, I am pro-Furman but Samford was on their 3rd string Safeties and had a lot of backfield injuries last year. That's why some Samford guys think despite the loss of Gooden that they may be about the same on D this year. Many of their DBs were out last year

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
