Put the playoffs back to 16 teams and finish before Christmas, cowards.
Nah 24 teams only means one more weekend. Go to 16 and the SoCon has only one team a year plus nothing wrong with more football.

It's one more weekend of poorly attended games mostly populated with teams that have virtually no shot of competing for the title and then tacks on weeks to the end of the season as we wait for the national title game after the new year.

No byes. Play legit title contenders right off the jump. Finish before Christmas.

So how many of the 16 have a shot? More football is a good thing. Every game is meaningful, win and advance, lose and go home. Every team has a chance albeit small. Who cares about attendance? The way you are thinking they should just take the top 4.

Sixteen is the magic number. There are less than 16 good FCS teams. Every other team is just playing mediocre football and does not deserve a playoff bid.

16 eliminates the bye week and forces you to play a top 15 or so team right off the jump in the playoffs.

Montana State was the #1 seed last year and didn't face a top 15 team until the 3rd round.

Then let’s just go to the top teams in all sports. Just take the champions in the power conferences in baskeball, 3 games and done. Who wants to watch all that basketball anyway? NFL just take the top 4, done in a week. NBA same. Who wants to watch one and done games. BTW since 2005 in FCS 22 unseeded teams have reached the semi-finals and 4 have made the finals. 16 teams wouldn’t be too bad if you eliminated about 4 or 5 auto bids which is not happening. Right now 16 teams would mean 5 at large which would all be taken by the top two conferences. If you want to eliminate byes go to 32.

Yes, there is some balance between taking every team and just letting NDSU and SDSU settle it in a winner take all game.

They need to reduce the number of automatic bids and at large bids.

In 2023 automatic bids went to Drake and Duquesne, who lost by a collective score of 106-10 in the first round. There were six Missouri Valley teams selected. A team that finished .500 in their own conference got selected to play for a national title.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
