So…Wake Forest, Furman, Belmont. If he portals to Liberty, pretty sure that’s considered batting for the traditional Baptist cycle.

Tex will know.

What a farce. I read today that a whole bunch of players are entering the transfer portal who have played 4 years. The reason "in case a lawsuit is filed enabling a rule change allowing players to play 5 years." I guess that's better than graduating and having to get a real job.

Baylor has lost their entire roster and UC San Diego has lost their entire starting lineup to the transfer portal.

Iconic program UNC has 5 players in the transfer portal, 2 who transferred in last year. The kids used to dream about playing for Carolina. Dean has got to be turning over in his grave.

There are going to be players that have gone to 4 different schools in their 4 year career.

I graduated in '76 and played 4 years. I think I am going to enter the transfer portal and petition the NCAA for a "waiver". Who knows maybe I can get one. And then I would stay at Furman. I would have to see if they have a graduate program in "wasting time on the golf course." I bet Coach Davidson would love to have a 71 year old on his team.

This post can be moved to General Idiocy. As a matter of fact the entire NCAA football and basketball programs can be moved to General Idiocy. :D

I wonder when the younger guys - in high school or just out - get lawyers to file a suit to let them have their turn. With slightly older players trying to hang around for 5th, 6th, 7th.... years there will be younger guys who won't get their turns to shine. And make money.

Hopefully he and others don't get another year because that would only increase the epidemic of guys who have played out their eligibility coming back year after year. If the extra year happens it wouldn't be this year

Samford adding some replacements for the guys who left.

Judson Bjornstadt 6'8" 200 forward coming in from Union College (D2.)
Jadin Booth, 6'2" guard, transfers from Florida Southern, was at Omaha before that.
Jaxon Pollard 6'7 215 forward played at Queens College.
Dylan Faulkner 6'9" 210 post player will follow the new coach Acuff from Lipscomb. He was injured for a good part of last year but appears to be a good pickup.

Western Carolina has signed Tidjiane Dioumassi, 6'5" shooting guard from Southern University.

Chattanooga signed Jordan Frison, 6'0" guard from D2 Pittsburg State.

Mercer picked up 6'3" Jaydon Cole, an actual high school senior from Milton GA. He had offers from Old Dominion and Radford.
They also get Quinton Perkins, 6'0" pg, who began at Tarleton State and then spent a year at a JC.

Since I mentioned him earlier - Denzel Aberdeen has quickly found a new home. He is headed from Florida to Kentucky.

Wofford transfer forward El Shakery is transferring to New Hampshire.

The one guy I am very worried about is Jikari Johnson who committed to Chattanooga. Supposedly we had interest but never got him on campus. Extremely athletic and very good shooter, Ed will need to lock him down

Some updates -

6'11" soph. Riley Allenspach has committed to George Mason after leaving Samford.
Cade Norris, 6'3" freshman guard from Illinois State is transferring to Samford.
Keaton Norris, 6'0" junior from Wright State is transferring to Samford. I assume the Norrises are brothers. They are both from Hilliard Ohio and went to the same high school. Keaton Norris avg. 7.5 ppg, and led the team in assists with 4.3 per game. He hit 44.8% of his three point shots. Cade Norris only played in 17 games and only scored 1.1 ppg but hit 40% of his threes when he did play.

UNCG has picked up Donald Whitehead, Jr., 5'10" a junior transfer from D2 California (PA)

Chattanooga signed 6'2" transfer Teddy Washington, Jr. from SE Missouri. He went to Texas A&M Corpus-Cristi before that. Avg. 13.0 ppg (2nd on the team) and was team leader in rebounds at 5.4 and second in assists.
The Mocs also signed Billy Smith, 6'7" transfer from Bellarmine, who started out at Miami (O.) Smith scored 14 ppg, and led Bellamine in assists and steals. He hit 38.7 of his threes and an outstanding 94.9% of his FTs (37-39)

ETSU has signed 6'3" Milton Matthews, a senior transfer from Florida A&M, His second transfer. He started his college career at NAIA St. Thomas Univ. During his high school days he had offers from several D1 schools including ETSU and St. Bonaventure. He was the 2nd leading scorer with about 15 ppg and played more minutes than any other player for A&M. Hit around 37% of his three point shots.
The Bucs have also brought in transfer Cam Morris,III. Morris is a 6'8" 205 lb. rising senior from UMass-Lowell. He scored 8.5 ppg and grabbed 4.7 rebs per game. He hit 54.6% of his shots this year. He is from Alexander City, AL.

Wofford has signed transfer Rex Stirling, 6'8" forward from Williston St. JC. He averaged 18 ppg and 10 rpg this season.

Mercer has signed transfer D. J. Smith, 6'0" junior from Robert Morris. He had previously played for Bowling Green and Arkansas-Little Rock. Avg. 9 ppg, 3 assists and 2 rpg. this year. hIt 39% of his threes this season. His three point shooting has improved every year in college from 27% as a freshman. Probably one to watch.
Mercer also signed 6'5" Njoroge Nganga a high school recruit from Dallas TX.

Jah Quinones, 6'4" guard for Mercer is transferring.

Another transfer

Wofford adds Cayden Vasko, 6'6" 175lb. guard from Central Michigan. Vasko avg. 7.4 ppg (5th on the team) while playing over 32 minutes per game (3rd most) and was 3rd in rebounding and 2nd in assists. He hit 39% of his threes and 88% from the FT line.

SoCon teams definitely following the existing conference preference for good perimeter shooting with this year's recruits.

Three more for Mercer.

Kyle Cuffe, Jr. 6'2" 188 guard transfer from Syracuse. Started out at Kansas. but only played in two games before going to Syracuse. Averaged 3 and 5 ppg in two years with the Orange. Had some solid games in the start of the season - a half dozen games in double figures and played 15-20 minutes per game but his playing time and scoring declined later in the season. His better games were against the lower half of the ACC. Was 0-8 against Duke and 0-5 against UNC. Went 0-8 in two games in the ACC tourney.Had a bunch of high major offers in high school including UCLA and Connecticut.

Baraka Okojie, 6'1"192 transfer who played one year at Memphis after one year at George Mason. Scored 8 ppg as a freshman but less than 2 ppg this season. Playing time dropped from 24 Minutes per game to 11. Still played in 31 games this season. Native of Brampton, Ontario,Canada. Near Toronto.

Lewis Rowe 6'10" 260 lb grad transfer comes in from St. Edwards Univ.in Austin, Texas . He began at VMI, then transferred to New Mexico junior college then to Sam Houston State, then to St.Edwards. Native of Adelaide, Australia. Averaged 13 ppg and 6 rebs. at St. Edwards.

Most SoCon schools looking for shooters. Mercer seems to be looking for strong, athletic guards and size up front.
