I think it would be cool if this board was one long continuous thread then this discussion would be unnecessary.

Poll:

Assuming they both qualify and had interest and could only take one, would you take

1. Smith or
2. Pegues

Smith in a heartbeat. Showed much grit after that shoulder injury. Also more consistent.

What do you guys think the rationale is for why they would deserve another year?
If FUBeAR was an Athletics Director or a President of a University that was making $’s from the Athletics activities of the Athletics Department AND believed that “Student” Athletes are the most valuable asset of the Athletics Department, FUBeAR would be asking different questions…

“What is the rationale for any of our “Student” Athletes being ‘term limited’ at all?”

“What is the rationale for ‘firing’ our most valuable ‘assets’ and forcing them to find work elsewhere (NBA, NFL, etc al)?”

“Should we, and can we legally, impose a mandatory retirement age on our “Student” Athletes? Those DEPENDS look so unsightly under his basketball shorts, but our Fans have loved Matt “Methusela” Moncrief for six decades now. He sells tickets and sponsorships. How could we go on without him?”

I don't think there is a rationale but JP's case might be since he hardly played this year. I don't know when it became apparent that he wasn't good enough to play for Auburn but he should have recognized it sooner and asked for a redshirt. A $400K redshirt. HaHa. I doubt the subject came up but Pearl would have said no.

As much as I liked JP when he was at FU I would take PJ. He's a more consistent shooter, as good a ball handler, and a better defender. I also like his grit.

Anyone know anything about a new transfer? Don’t know if a freshman can replace Nick and PJ so ring wise. Love the Asa commitment but I think we need a proven guard!

Like I have been saying, it is coming. The courts will rule athletes are employees now and their employer cannot limit their employment and also going to classes will become optional if they are not already.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
