Offers have been going out over the last couple of weeks with the list growing to 30 or so names at this point.

The latest offer was to a 6'6" QB (Kaeden Johnson) out of TX who is the 46th ranked QB in the 2026 class on 247. 3 QBs have been offered so far with one committing to Georgia Southern already.

The majority of the offers to this point have gone to the OL, LB, and DB. OL and DB make sense. We always seem to take 3-4 OL and we have depth that needs to be replaced at DB. The number of offers at LB is a little interesting since we have 5 guys who are sophomores or younger (Using the criteria of players who were announced on signing day only. We have more than that but I assume most of them are partial scholarship players or walk ons). Maybe 1-2 could play bandit, but they don't really fit the mold of what we've targeted at that position recently.

Last year there were several SC players offered early. This year there is only one so far (a TE from Woodruff). I'm sure that will upset some people.

Overall this feels like one of the more diverse groups of offers I've seen in a while. Offers are out to players from SC, NC, GA, TN, AL, LA, FL, VA, TX, OH, KS, and MO.

Current player, Jalen Gummer, has a brother who has collected a lot of offers. Hopefully having Jalen here will help with him but who knows.

Only 1 recruit we overlap with Wofford currently. Several have Mercer or Samford offers.

In general, Furman seems to be a little slower to get offers out compared to other SoCon schools, but I believe the timeline is consistent with last year.

Just a few thoughts very early in the process.

Just watched a bit of Lee's film.

He's an interesting late pickup. I don't know whether he's a walk-on or scholarship player.

Observationally, he's a bit of a throw back for Furman. Most of our recent commits have been more slightly built outside zone guys. While Lee certainly seems to have played in a zone scheme in high school, he does not appear to be the quick cut space-finder that Hall, Nettles, Davis, etc. seem to be. He looks like a guy that wants to initiate contact after his initial cut and runs angry.

My initial gut is that he reminds me of a Devin Abrams/Myion Hicks type player - physical runner that can act as the second back in a two back set.

After a year of Furman being heavily a one back system and doing virtually nothing in the run game, I wonder if the coaches aren't trying to find guys to fill that yeoman's role again as the utility guy.

Reminds FUBeAR of the late, great Jimmy Beddingfield, AKA one of FB Dinky Williams very capable backups - that wasn't 235-240 and/or couldn't run a 4.5/4.6 40 (like Dinky was and could). JB was kind of a TB/FB hybrid - but with Mike Glenn, Brothel Cole, and a guy named Stanford Jennings at TB, his prospects of PT were a lot better at FB.

Looks like a kid who will find a spot somewhere on the field, eventually, if he stays at FU...and he's obviously a high-academic kid - camped at all the Ivy's and was looking at MIT, Carnegie-Mellon, Davidson, etc.

He could play on FUBeAR's Team - He's a "3-clip kid" - only needed to watch the 1st 3 plays of his vid to know he could play for FUBeAR. Turned it off after those 3.

BTW - His HUDL vid sez he's a '26 kid.

I see that. Was going off these 2 tweets. Maybe he reclassified but not really sure how he could be a 26 guy if he was a senior this past year unless he’s going to a prep school?

It doesn’t matter really. Looks like he’s going to be a paladin which is good enough at this point. If he is a 25 guy, I’m just hoping this isn’t a reflection of where they might think Jayquan Smith is at this point. As in they don’t think he’s going to be ready and they need more depth.
