Again just slams against me which is fine but still no one can come up with a good excuse why FU does not have baseball because there isn’t one.

I have not heard of a serious large financial commitment come forward that has been turned away, so those that seem to want it most must not be the ones financially able to make it happen.............
I don't have a problem with it coming back, but only if the money is there which it must not be................

Does every other school in the state have a large financial commitment from someone? Absolutely not. Why does bb have to be funded by someone when other sports don’t? For what it is worth ED turned down a $3 million commitment from one individual when she decided to end baseball. You can believe that or not but it is absolutely true. Again there is no legitimste excuse for FU to not have bb.

From The State article that is almost 5 years old. "A closer look: Why did Furman cut baseball, and could it be brought back?"

Read more at: https://www.thestate.com/sports/other-s ... ink=cpy"In the case of baseball, unfortunately we lose $1 million a year. In the case of men’s lacrosse we were losing $1.7 (million) a year. The majority of that is tuition. A strong part of that is salaries and to operate at a competitive level. In 2019 we only had $8,000 in ticket sales for baseball. You’re talking about an institutional investment in sports that’s intended to provide a great experience for your student-athletes and your alumni. But it comes with a cost that’s a pretty substantial cost."

I know this lengthy conversation with Jason Donnelly will not satisfy you, but it does answer your question as to why. Read it, accept it, and move on. It's time to end the attacks against Furman University.
No one ever said that baseball pays for itself, but most of the cost is tuition. We could argue all day if that is a real cost. What about the other non-revenue sports that travel all over the country at a huge cost? At least bb plays within driving distance. Again every other college in the state has baseball and deals with the cost. Why can’t FU?

The reason it needs to have a large financial commitment is because there needs to be a guarantee that other programs (ie. Men's Basketball) will take zero effect from any negative financial shortfalls the Baseball program would take down the line...........
The truth is its going to take north of $10 million to get the thing back off the ground.....

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
