Portal closes Saturday. Any late Christmas gifts in the works?
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
- did we get any OL or DL from the portal? Read back a few pages and only saw the TE
Perhaps the Wofford grad or Jaydon Collins from Wake Forest.FUATT wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 4:23 pmA few thoughts... apologies as been distracted with Christmas cheer...
It would not surprise me if Hinton came back. I am not sure the offers he has are enough to pull him away. As some noted, Coastal is not that attractive and Michigan is cold, even for a Northern Virginian boy.
I think the portal has been kind to Furman. We have addressed some needs at WR, TE (Clyburn, we needed a big bodied blocking TE), RB. I think that Santa has a present hiding for us behind the tree at OT. A nice one. Not the VMI kid but something someone mentioned earlier.
If Hinton does come back, the Portal will have been a big plus for the roster. I suppose we could get hurt by in the Spring, maybe. But right now, Furman appears to be a positive and desired destination and our roster next year should be overall both improved and significantly more experienced!
Would love this. Would so like for Hinton and one or two OL. I don’t think anyone can deny we need OL ! The game is won in the trenches. We need a running game !!!FUATT wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 4:23 pmA few thoughts... apologies as been distracted with Christmas cheer...

As long as they are in good academic standing, they just have to be enrolled for the fall semester. They could also enroll for courses. Some kids enter through portal but still have to finish the last semester (spring) at their current school before they can enroll. You see a lot of kids posting “mid year enrollee” on their profile meaning they can transfer in now. Not all can do that. We obviously would want them all here now but that’s just not the reality with all of the transfers. Abraham and King are here now so that’s a good start. We may see others before the next semester starts.
I'm guess we are the best to offer Jaydon Collins. Publicly, he indicated offers from Gardner-Webb and West Georgia (Brodyville). 6'6" 305 is a big body. We know though, that alone doesn't equate to a productive OL and it seems odd a transfer our of Wake Forest with that size wouldn't have more offers. The entire Furman staff is following him on X.AllTimeFU wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 6:40 pmPerhaps the Wofford grad or Jaydon Collins from Wake Forest.FUATT wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 4:23 pmA few thoughts... apologies as been distracted with Christmas cheer...
