Furman offers WF grad transfer O-lineman.

Brody Balliew picks up an offer from SIU (for those who care)
I would LOVE if we could get wake Forest, ECU, G5 guys like Coastal Carolina. That’s what we need

Perhaps the first to accept an offer in the portal this year...West Georgia over Furman. Really? I'm not sure what this says. You never know all the circumstances. A free education at FU seems better than at UWG.

Oh the demands...

Could you imagine Pyburn making a demand like that to Coach Sheridon (or Baker, Satterfield, Johnson, Hendrix, etc)?

1. His a** would be out the door with a big foot print on it.
2. His furnishings/clothes/belongings would be on the sidewalk in front of Manley or Geer Hall's before the sun set.
3. He would get a call from the Registrar that if he wanted to enroll in the Spring semester he would have to pay his own tuition, room, and board.

Good for Coach Napier. He did the right thing.

Man you need to get the MONEY while you can. Think about Marcus Lattimore at USC. NFL career coming and then nothing. He’s the prime example to me of where I get NIL. any superstar could get hurt. GET THE MONEY NOW. Screw the school. Take the money. As an adult with kids in college I so wish I coulda had say 300k NIL to a ROTH IRA. Say you put 200k in the Roth post tax. Thats TWO or THREE MILLION DOLLARS or far more TAX FREE when you retire.

Take. The. Money.

Wow. People leaving Furman for West Georgia. A second year program. Man that stings. Our coaches better get ready and step up in this new world order

A very disheartening loss. You mean a scholarship kid leaves for that? What is up?

He gone. Best of luck to him. He has earned a bigger stage than what Furman is offering right now.

Bigger but barely, playing in a league made up of former FCS teams.

The last 2 redshirted in 2023, never saw the field in 2024 so can understand why they want out. Maybe they can drop down a level and get some PT.

West Georgia isn't a second year program. They've just transitioned to the FCS and have loads of transfers playing in a respectable conference.

No, Carrollton isn't Greenville and West Georgia isn't Furman. Among other things, Carrollton is significantly closer to Balliew's hometown in Calhoun, Georgia. Maybe he got tired of fighting Atlanta traffic like the rest of us.

Could be something as simple as the kid has played in mop up duty in six games in two years, realizes his "time" may not be on the imminent horizon, sees offers Furman is putting out to all manner of offensive linemen, and decides to take another opportunity elsewhere.

Neither are listed on the roster anymore.

I believe these two were walk-ons. Good luck to them.

Again, this is going to feel like a roller coaster for those of us that have followed Furman and/or college football for more than, say, 5 years.

But take at least some solace that this carousel is happening literally everywhere.

Mercer, for instance, lost on Saturday and arguably their best defensive player (Brayden Manely) entered the portal Sunday. He led the SoCon in sacks.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
