Just was searching through some of this stuff, and came upon Mercer's NIL policy. I assume this is probably a fairly standard policy.

I thought this provision was interesting:
Student-athletes may secure representation (e.g., agent or lawyer) ONLY for name, image and likeness and NOT for future professional athletic contract negotiations. Student-athletes cannot enter into any such written or oral agreements for name, image and likeness before July 1, 2021.
So, you can get an agent, but only for NIL (I'm still not entirely sure what that is). The agent cannot be for a professional contract, however.
It's an interesting thought experiment. An agent can be hired, but only for ensuring an amateur athlete can make money in conjunction with playing football. The agent cannot be hired, however, to ensure that an amateur athlete can enter into a contract where he'll get paid money to play football.
