The date for the Georgia State game has been in the Furman game notes ever since it was announced. The VT game was originally the 31st, but was moved for whatever reason. So the websites were originally correct.

November 16th - at Wofford
November 23rd - Open date


I realize that Furman is close to a 12th game. My assumption is that it is for November 23rd
Also, this is a guess based in part by the schedules of other teams and the open dates for other teams to play us. Nothing is certain until the full schedule comes out.

With the release of the ETSU Scheudle, the prediction on the scheldue still holds true.

Update on January 22nd
UTC just released their schudule. Furman plays at UTC on November 2nd. Predictions continue to hold true.

According to my spreadsheet, we cannot play Samford on Nov. 16. I used to put why, then I stopped. They are playing someone else that day.

It seems likely that we will play Wofford and the Citadel back to back, which will be nice given the similarities in their offenses. It also appears we will play VMI later in the season at home. That will also be nice to have home games against VMI and a likely sub-D1 team during the home stretch.

Something I found interesting in earlier comments from the SoCon's commissioner from April of 2018.

Our presidents, chancellors and athletic directors are more concerned with stabilizing the commitment that the 10 present members have toward each other and toward the Southern Conference. Our efforts are geared toward building on existing rivalries and establishing new ones.

I'm interested to know if this has any tangible effect on Furman. Could we start seeing a concerted effort to schedule Furman/Wofford/Citadel later in the season?

I noticed that ETSU and UTC will play on a Thursday this year coming off a bye week. That certainly seems like a rivalry the SoCon is trying to develop in football.
