GREAT STUFF. PHENOMENAL. ALL without Harris who could have had production and drawn attention towards him

Issue is where are the running highlights. I’ll skip highlights. Give me consistent 5 yard runs. Like the easy untouched power run for a TD by Grant Robinson someone posted. 4 yards. Untouched. Great OL shove towards the left.

Yes. That was the model. Starts with the right call up front and then execution. If I’m not mistaken that was the sequence with the number 2 Center.

I would run the QB more. Hedden can hoof it. Designed keepers, draws, etc.

Louis, ive been thinking about this too. Maybe just 5 a game. That really keeps a defense honest. I’m big on running QBs. All we have to do is look at Huff or William and Mary. If you never run the QB it’s 10 vs 11. Run the qb and it’s 11 on 11

Of course we have to stop the run too. I wish I could watch the game replay. Assume I can’t. ? I tried YouTube. Just highlights so far

This is kind of what I'm talking about. Inside the 10, Furman puts two RBs on the field. This is just a power play - hat on a hat.

I'm not weighing in on whether something is right or wrong or good or bad. I don't really have an answer for the issues with the run game. i don't necessarily pin it on the offensive line, though. From what I could tell, last night Hedden was kept pretty clean and in some instances had all day to throw. I thought they did a good job.
THANKS JACKAL !!!

That's the one I have been thinking of. BEAUTIFUL RUNNING THERE ! POWER. hat on a hat as you say... simplistic and powerful

If we had 5+ more plays per game like this (5 yard runs) we might be 3-1 and a different team

I do not know that simply isolating the rushing statistics is dispositive of offensive success.

The outside zone run is a staple of the offense. Ideally, we'd be able to get big chunks of yards in the run game. However, defenses key on that against Furman and aggressively fill the run lanes.

At the same time, going back to that opens up a lot of other things we want to do offensively. Case in point:

Furman play fakes the zone run. W&M aggressively fills all of the run lanes, but the QB runs a half boot the other direction. The linebackers are out of position and no one is really available to pick up Jackson Pryor.

This is how I think Furman is going to have to play this year. You have to keep running the ball out there and play action off of it.

Agree. And that’s a great play. Beautiful.

The problem is the NET effect is the opponent is winning. Opponent - “Let’s take away Furmans run game and our run and pass game will generally beat their pass game. Furman will get some decent yards through the air but we probably win”. I would do the same. Force a true Freshman Qb to beat me. Turnovers etc will generally favor the more senior team. Mix up coverages vs a freshman QB.

I mean, sort of. Furman pretty much threw the ball on W&M all night.

It'd have been nice to have more production in the run game, but we also missed two chip shot kicks and didn't stop W&M from scoring. That's not necessarily the offense's fault.

TRUE. I mean the 384 yards allowed rushing is just a gut punch.

CCH has always preached - as have most of our coaches - RUN THE BALL and STOP THEM FROM RUNNING. That wins games.

LIke elsewhere -
RUN THE BALL with more production
STOP THE OPPONENT RUN (your point)
stop the Penalties. Good or bad year we have almost always been a disciplined team
