Anonymous SoCon Head Coaches Predict Conference Champ, FCS Champ, And Draft A SoCon Player

https://herosports.com/fcs-anonymous-so ... dict-bzbz/
You have to give it to Chatt - they have the best run of freak singular DL in the SoCon. Now they may not have the best unit. And that’s what matters …but Dam they’ve had a long line of DL studs

The new format is an improvement by taking out the bidding process for first round home games which was dumb and unfair.

I like these guys, they are really FCS fans. One has FU at #12, one has them at #6. Hope Sean Anderson is correct. Interesting comments about FU at about 14:00 mark.

I've listened to those guys for the last several years.
They've typically been unimpressed with Furman.
What you're seeing now is respect for Coach Hendrix.

I've not heard many people mention that Furman kept its coaching staff from last year to this year. I'll further say that these media folks now believe that, under Hendrix, Furman could build a team that competes nationally against SDSU, NDSU, and Montana.

This will be an interesting season to test that theory.

Furman turned over a lot of players. I think we recruit well, and if we can sustain those losses and win 8 or 9 games again, then I feel pretty comfortable in saying there's staying power nationally.

Yeah - Former & relatively recent (2019) CAA / Rhode Island Long Snapper & Reserve OLman.

Jealous of Furman’s success. Probably thought they should have been recruited by FU & weren’t. FUBeAR prolly played as many ‘real’ plays for the Paladins last year as these 2 did for the Rams in their (combined) ‘careers,’ when URI won a grand total of 13 games over their 4 years in Kingston. Finishing last or next-to-last in the CAA every season except 1, it’s understandable why they mistakenly believe CAA Teams are so ooohy-oooohy good, but they wouldn’t know what an FCS Championship Team looks like and couldn’t spell it if you spotted ‘em the F and the C.

https://gorhody.com/sports/football/ro ... erson/5254

SEASON OVERALL CAA
W-L W L W L
2016 2 9 1 7
2017 3 8 2 6
2018 6 5 4 4
2019 2 10 0 8
Total 13 32 7 25

As CAA shills, they are required to dismiss the SoCon and, of course, their CAA ReachAround Partner, Craig Haley, has both of them voting in HIS STATS Perform poll as “National Representatives.”

And we wonder why FU & SoCon Teams are consistently ranked 6-10 spots lower than they should be every pre-season. Anderson’s claim of Ranking FU #6 is an absolute anomaly. He will drop Furman 6-8 slots if we lose to Ole Miss by more than 7. And, probably out of the Top 25 with a 1 point OT road loss to W&M, who he will have at #5.

Sorry Astro - FUBeAR is NOT a fan of these 2. They’ll need to demonstrate A LOT less AntiSoCon, and, specifically, Anti-Furman, bias over several seasons to have FUBeAR click ‘subscribe.’

Oh, I agree with you, FuBear.
Sadly, during football season, I listen to just about anything related to FCS football. These guys have always frustrated me with their lack of knowledge of SoCon football.

I think mentioning the continuity of the coaching staff is important too.

A number of years ago, after losing to Furman, Brent Thompson at the Citadel noted that Furman defended their option differently than they had the prior two seasons. It was unique to hear that - essentially the Citadel had gone through several years of tape on Furman and Duane Vaughn still did something they were not expecting.

In a league where every team plays every team every year, they know each other, their personnel, and their tendencies. Having smart coaches that are constantly willing to add, subtract, and try new things keeps the opponents guessing as to what they think you are going to do.

You can watch Furman the last several seasons and see a similar framework each year, but also see both sides of the ball are willing to do new and different things. You almost have to keep reinventing things in this league because the teams are so familiar with one another.

About Us

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage

GoPaladins.com is not affiliated with Furman University or its athletics programs.
