I doubt Huff is coming back. All we heard was how he was going to graduate and start his military obligations. I think that's what the coaches planned for, so my expectation (with no inside knowledge) is that Huff isn't coming back regardless. Again, no inside info as to what the coaches would do. That's just my guess.

Yates went into the portal last year but then came back. He went in again and recently got offers from Incarnate Word and Delaware (where former Furman DB coach Corico Wright currently coaches), so my guess is he isn't coming back.

Wyatt Hughes's portal post read more like a "I'm done with football" post than a "I want to see if I can play somewhere bigger" post, so my guess is he's likely just done with football unless something "bigger" comes along. Again, no inside info. That's just how I read it.

I don't think any of the guys other guys in the portal are coming back at this point. It's great to have Clark back, but it's probably time to turn the page to the guys currently on the roster. We were going to have to do it at some point.
That is true. We kept hearing the coaches talk about depth and versatility (on the offensive line specifically) so now it's time to see what we've got. It's kind of exciting actually. I bet our offensive scheme looks a little different as well. Less pound the run and short passes to more in space. Go Dins!!

Huff is an odd one. He said time and agian and again that he was headed to military in January. There was I even a specific data elike January 7th given.

I assume that has NOT come to pass ? Huff himself and others in interviews directly said this at least five times and he confirmed it.

As far as I know he hasn’t left for military.

Then he listed football offers from other schools. Just strange. Confusing

Don’t know what is so confusing. In various reports it was stated the that he will depart on January 8 to Fort Huachuca in Arizona for active duty training through May 7, 2024. Given that he is in the Reserves what Lt. Huff does with his time after that is entirely up to him.

He and Roper are pretty close it seems. My guess is the coaches weren't surprised by this. If the plan was always for him to move on after this year regardless of having a year of eligibility remaining, he may have just wanted to see what options were out there before starting his military commitment. Not sure. Doesn't really matter at this point either.

Furman had a lot of guys come back who could have left last year to make a run at it this year. That rarely happens two years in a row. The Covid year has spoiled us to a degree. In another year or so, things will start to look a lot more like what they did pre-2020 as far as eligibility exhaustion goes. Unless you lose a ton of underclassmen and load up on 1 year guys in the portal, the age of it being common for a graduating class to have 30+ seniors will likely be over soon.

Yep … seems people made assumptions he was going to be living in a foxhole on the 83rd parallel for the next 6 years.

Besides, he already earned his Masters in Strategic Design from FU.

Unless he wants to add another Masters from FU - say, a Master of Arts in Advocacy and Equity Studies (MAAES), [which] is designed for problem-solvers and community leaders: those who see issues in society and want to make a change. Explore social justice. Engage systems of power and influence. Build solutions that make a difference in our communities, why would he return?

He can get a jump on any of these advanced degrees with a season at, say, Arkansas State…

We are all such Pollyannas…

Why would NCAA Member Schools continue to lose their revenue-generating assets, upon whose backs they are making millions of $’s (FUBeAR has read), to the NFL, when it’s now perfectly within NCAA rules for these schools to facilitate (at minimum) compensation plans for these human capital assets which outpace those that the NFL can provide? It makes absolutely no sense to limit the productive life of these still-appreciating assets with archaic eligibility rules.

As long as these human capital assets desire to produce revenue for and be equitably compensated by these NCAA Member Schools, they have the right (which, undoubtedly, they (and the schools) will soon prove in court) to continue in such existing relationships, ad infinitum.

4 years of NCAA eligibility is soon to go the way of “impermissible benefits.”

As Coach E. Cartman says…

Yep … seems people made assumptions he was going to be living in a foxhole on the 83rd parallel for the next 6 years.

I would think that the ground (what little there is of it) at the 83rd parallel would be frozen to the point of making foxholes impractical to dig. Therefore, I never made that assumption.

What an unapologetic latitudinist you are!

The good people of Ellesmere Island, all 144 of them, as citizens of our ally, Canadia (they haven’t invaded us yet, have they?), deserve to be protected by such outstanding Militarists as Lt. Huff.

Why would you deny them this right? Why do you hate the Ellesmerians so much?

Impossible - as Florin is located between Sweden & Germany, its latitude would be somewhere in the range of the 55th or 56th parallel.

Now you’re falsely accusing one of the gross of Ellesmerians of murder! Is there no end to your persecution of these gentle and peaceful souls!

As an observation, it would seem that most of Furman's activity in recruitment/portal is on defensive backs.

That makes sense. Furman loses Blackshear, Robinson, Yates, Chizik, Ryan, Brinson, and Rhodes.
