With all due respect this is more than a top 10 showdown. It will be for the SoCon championship. Don’t ever remember a game that basically will decide the championship this early.
WCU-A win and barring a major upset they win the championship outright and the auto bid. They have no one left that can beat them. Even if they do lay an unexpected egg they still get a share of the title and the auto bid as they would have the tiebreaker against FU and Chattanooga.
FU- A win and most likely FU has at least a shared title. Unlike WCU FU does have a loseable game left. A win at UTC would in all liklihood mean an outright title, a loss a shared title.
UTC- has to pull for FU to win next week and beat FU at home to get a share of the title.
As you can see next week’s game will decide the championship. Here is what the 3 have left.
Furman- at WCU, ETSU, at UTC, VMI, at WC
WCU-MU, at WC, ETSU, at VMI
UTC-ETSU, @VMI, FU,
By the above you can see why next Saturday will decide the champiinship. Don’t see any other losses for anyone except someone has to lose the FU/UTC.
With that said FU probably secured a playoff bid with the win today. A loss next week and they should stay in the top 10 and even a loss at top 20 UTC they should still stay in the top 20. Of course they cannot afford a loss to any of the bottom feeders,

Great info AP. I do like that CCH has made it clear to the guys that all that matters is the next game. Roberto and CCH made that clear in their post game interviews.
It’s been said before, CCH isn’t playing for the polesters, he’s playing for wins. Here’s the best news. If we don’t lose a game the rest of the year we win the natty. Just win. Win ugly. Just win.

Not conceding. But that’s good information.

Essentially by beating Mercer and Sam we should have a playoff spot even at 8-3 if we just win the ETSU WOFF VMI set.

Split WCU UTC for 9-2 not sure what that does. More than 8-3? If not a seed does 9-2 mean anything v 8-3 ? I’m asking . Could 9-2 get a bye?

Win out its top seed?

Help me recall. 24 teams. The top 8 teams get a bye, right?
The other 16 play the first week. Home games to higher $.
And all top 8 get to stay home for week two games right ?

Second round is also regionally-based. So a seed could also mean a potential rematch in the second round. If UTC is involved they might go somewhere different, but if WCU and Furman are involved and one is seeded hard to imagine we wouldn’t play again.

If the SOCON has two or three 8-win teams I would not be surprised to see one left out. Based on current rankings FU and WCU are best positioned to make it with 1 more loss. But neither of us want to lose 2 more.

This year vividly reminds us how your final ranking from the year before is so important. Clearly the Western and UTC games will determine our playoff fate this year. We have not stumped our toe so far this year (which says a lot) and put ourselves in the position to play a couple of really big games. Now is the time for this team to influence the rankings (not last years team). I honestly believe we will bring our A game, seize the opportunity, and win. Exciting!

Going to be the unstoppable force against the immovable object.

WCU leads the SoCon in rushing offense at 177 yards per game at 6.1 yards per carry. Furman holds teams to under 100 yards per game on the ground and 3 yards per carry.

Samford's backs were swallowed up just about as soon as they touched the ball yesterday. The only real success Samford had running the ball was one reverse to their wide receiver. Their two primary backs - Stanton and Witherspoon - combined for 15 rushes for 37 yards.
