I think all of us have been watching or observing the Southern Conference long enough to know that at least 2 of these potential routs are going sideways.
Normally I would agree with you but not this year. Only way any are close is if our impressions of the 4 “better’ teams is wrong.
There is a pretty sizable gap.
If I had to pick one, Mercer/VMI could end up being closer than expected. The Keydets are not terrible defensively. They've got a decent QB. They don't run the ball particularly well and struggle to find the end zone.
Mercer is good, but their offense isn't setting the world on fire. They've been held under 20 points in three of their four games this season.
I think Mercer will win, but when you look at the numbers you can see a world where VMI can hang around late in a low scoring contest.
