Mercer made some very costly penalties. If they get that bad punt by us - without a penalty etc. Mercer might have led at some point which changes
the game dynamic. That and the penalty where we failed to move the ball on third and goal…. Game changers. Furman is probably 7-14 points better on an average day. Not 24 points better. The fumble on the punt return was a killer too.
Tough day for Mercer. That said, a key was Mercer inability to get short yardage. That seemed a consistent win for 7he Furman DL. 3rd and short was a killer for the Mercer OL.
