What a class we have out together so far. How are our FCS counterparts faring? We by far have the most commits out of any team I have seen!

Edwards seemed to play DE a lot last year; he's also listed as OLB. At 6-3 230, he's explosive—I think he could play both positions for the DINS.

After a second coffee, I updated the list with the top offers for each commit. We will have to wait and see how these guys develop in the Furman system; this coaching staff has a darn good track record.

One evaluation piece is who else recruited them. This is also a tricky evaluation method; for example, Tyler Huff was a walk-on at PC.

Still, Furman has to beat out other schools for a player. In years past, we've lost many players to Wofford, Citadel, Chatty, Samford, W&M, and Richmond. Recently, we've been winning most of the battles for the guys we want.

Furman also has to find some diamonds, and the DINS has a long history of successfully finding overlooked players or players from smaller schools (Devin Wynn, Johanning, etc.).

My arch-chair ranking of the commits is based on total offers and a measure of FBS offerings. I'm also highlighting the SoCon and CAA schools we beat out for each player.

Most offered, most FBS offers
QB Terry Hedden III | 6-3 215 (APP, TOLEDO, USF)
OT Steven O’Dell | 6-6 290 (ARMY, CENTRAL MICH, JMU, MTSU, RICHMOND, W&M, WOFFORD, SAMFORD)
WR Devin Hester Jr | 5-10 165 (APP, WAKE, EASTERN MICH, GSU, KENT ST, LIBERTY)
DE Jalin Edwards | 6-3 230 (UAB, MEMPHIS, CENTRAL MICH, ARKST)
DB Jordan Miller | 5-11 170 ARMY, NAVY, CITADEL, SAMFORD, WOFFORD)

One or more FBS offers
WR Santino Varvel | 6-3 180 (AFA, NAVY, BUFFALO, BOWLING GREEN, NORTH DAKOTA, CAL-DAVIS)
RB Jeremiah Gavin Hall | 5-11 180 (MARSHALL, NAVY, ARMY)
NG Bruce Knauber | 6-2 295 (UAB, CITADEL, CHATTANOOGA, WOFFORD)
DB Berdendrick "Den" Johnson | 6-1 172 (AFA, ARMY, COLUMBIA, PENN)
DE Malaki Dobbins | 6-3 230 (AFA, NAVY, VALPO)
DB Fredrick Logan | 5-11 185 (ARMY, BROWN, WOFFORD)

FCS only offers
TE Jackson Pryor | 6-5 210 (WOFFORD, GWU, L-R)
OT Noah Akinsola | 6-5 260 (GRAMBLING, SAN DIEGO, DAVIDSON, GEORGETOWN)

Couple updates on our commits. Trying to find stats as able.

JGH had 203 yards on 20 carries in his first game as a running back. I’m not sure I was aware that he had never played running back. I’m pretty sure he had at least one catch as well but article didn’t mention that.

Trey Hedden and Tampa Catholic defeated Sarasota 42-10 in a preseason game. Saw at least one TD past but can’t find stats (edit: found the stats haha)

Bruce Knabauer and GHS defeated Dorman last night.

Jordan Miller and Arabia Mtn lost to Jackson 16-15

Malaki Dobbins had a big start to his season (see below)

JGH is impressive.
Kudos to our staff for jumping on him early with an offer before he changed the position. He had an offer from Marshall; I could see other FBS schools make offers.

I know people might not care about this stuff, but if you’re interested, go watch Hedden’s highlights from their exhibition game. I added it to the first post.

I’m definitely not an expert but I felt like there were some real high level throws in there. He threw a couple of beautiful balls on the run for TD’s.

This is just me, but I'm not a huge fan when kids that are "110% committed" continue to post their game highlights to twitter.

I feel the same way sometimes, but a lot of kids do it after committing and the majority of kids don’t flip after they commit so 🤷‍♂️. Recruiting timelines have changed as well. A lot of teams/recruits are done with recruitment by the time the season comes along now. Probably not fair to expect them to not post anything during their senior season.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
