I was scanning our roster this morning and looking at the TE position.
Going into the 2021 season, Furman's TE corps consisted of Ryan Miller, two well-thought-of recruits, Landon Whittemore and Jack Healy, and a bunch of depth chart guys.
Whittemore now plays for Tennessee Tech (did not realize that) and Healy does not appear to be playing football anywhere. Other than Miller, I'm not sure any of that group ever saw the field but for a limited number of snaps.
Going into 2023, Furman returns Parks Gissinger (6'4 240). They bring in Mason Pline as a transfer (6'7 250). They signed two highly regarded players in the '23 class, Brennan Torrey (6'7 221) and Brock Chappell (6'5 250). They also have Ty Youngblood (6'0 220) as an option, though he appears to be more of a backfield blocker.
I also noticed Aiden Ruckh (6'3 235) on the roster, who appears to be a walk on out of North Georgia. From limited amounts I've seen, the kid can play too
The coaching staff has given that position a makeover as we transition out of having Ryan Miller. What was, for a long time, a sort of hybrid position for us with guys like Miller, Schumpert, and Fletcher looks to be transitioning into a true depth chart with prototypical bodies at that position who will really impact both the running and passing game.
