However, Huff's '22 season (close to 3,000 total yards and 20+ touchdowns) is among the better seasons ever by a Furman QB. He put up pretty eye popping numbers despite overcoming injuries, no spring practice, battling for the starting job, and playing in a new offensive system. One has to think he could really only improve on his '22 season in '23.

Honestly, looking over the record books, Huff is nudging into Ingle Martin territory in terms of command of the offense and production. As the season went on, he went from "hey this kid can play a bit" to "he looks completely in control of what Furman is doing offensively.

In my view, the last time we saw a player like that under center at Furman was Martin.
FUBeAR was recently asked to name his top 3 QB’s for Furman in this century. His response…

1. Ingle Martin
2T. Billy Napier
2T. Jordan Sorrells

* Current Furman QB, Tyler Huff, could very well vault to the top of this list if his 2023 performance lives up to the expectations he created with his outstanding 2022 results.

Chris Forcier way better than Sorrells, just a fact ;)

Well, it’s good to see you finally getting some facts somewhat correct.

QB YR Rating
J Sorrells 2006 126.20
J Sorrells 2007 120.60
J Sorrells 2008 127.69
J Sorrells 2009 137.22
J Sorrells Career 130.29 #10 All-Time

QB YR Rating
Forcier 2009 148.49
Forcier 2010 142.24
Forcier 2011 172.36 #2 All-Time
Forcier Career 170.67 #1 All-Time

Awesome 1 time / 1 season (2011) single stat for Mr. Forcier. Also - TD to INT ratio was fantastic and Completion % was very high. Not exactly “off the charts” though…since it’s not even the #1 All-Time season for a Furman QB.

But - STILL - about 1/3 of the production, slightly worse winning %, and Sorrells’ Career rating is still Top 10 All-Time. As much as you want to move Forcier ahead of Sorrells and, FUBeAR will speculate that you were hotly impassioned - on the Forcier side - around the QB / OC decision-making allegedly based upon nepotism, that was roiling at that time, the overall objective and dispassionate facts don’t support your position.

Subjectively, way more talent…maybe.

Furman’s winning % during the 2 seasons that J. Sorrells was the starting QB (‘08 & ‘09) was .565

Furman’s winning % during the 1 season that Forcier was the starting QB (‘11) was .545

This ‘fact’ game just isn’t your thing, is it?

Everyone that has no bias here knows Forcier was better

His QB rating's in 2011 were off the charts

Sorrells not even in top 5 ;)
Well, it’s good to see you finally getting some facts somewhat correct.

QB YR Rating
J Sorrells 2006 126.20
J Sorrells 2007 120.60
J Sorrells 2008 127.69
J Sorrells 2009 137.22
J Sorrells Career 130.29 #10 All-Time

QB YR Rating
Forcier 2009 148.49
Forcier 2010 142.24
Forcier 2011 172.36 #2 All-Time
Forcier Career 170.67 #1 All-Time

Awesome 1 time / 1 season single stat for Mr. Forcier. TD to INT ratio was fantastic and Completion % was very high. Not exactly “off the charts” since it’s not even the #1 All-Time for Furman.

You're just wasting your time, Forcier was better, like you said '2011 172.36' was an insane season, just wish he would have played in 2009 over Sorrells and not gotten hurt at South Carolina in 2010 ;)

Sorrells falls more in the 7-9 range of FU qb's this century.
C'mon man - FUBeAR's understands your passion for Forcier - heckuva QB - and FUBeAR understands the scars that can be left when there is a QB controversy, but you are just wrong as acid rain on this, simply based on the facts of the matter...Let's look..

Jordan Sorrells....
Career Attempts - #2 All-Time, #2 this century
Career Completions - #2 All-Time, #2 this century
Career Passing Yards - #2 All-Time, #2 this century
Career TD's - #1T All-Time, #1T this century
Career Completion % - #3 All-Time, #3 this century
Career Rating #10 All-Time, #5 this century

"7-9 ... this century" ????

No doubt, give me these 6 all day over Sorrells

1) Martin
2) Napier
3) Forcier
4) Huff
5) Blazejowski
6) Hannon

QB G GS Comp- Att-Yds-TD-INT PCT
J. Sorrells 46 25 560-901-6,278-41-28 .628
Forcier 20 12 155-245-2,404-24-9 .633

Forcier more talented than Sorrells? Maybe, subjectively.
Woefully short in terms of Career Production.

Those, instead, are facts.

Way more talent, and a way better season than Sorrells ever had, those of us being honest all know Forcier should have been starting from day 1 ;)

Big fan of the (one hit) Oneders, aren't you?

Huff (so far), PJ, and Forcier are (really) 1 year guys - 2022, 2017, 2011, respectively. (FUBeAR knows they played (or will/should in Huff's case) some in other years. 1 Season - unless it's a BIG, BIG season for the Team (and they were not - definitely 2011 was not - 2017 and 2022 were a lot closer to being BIG) is just not enough for FUBeAR to put anyone on his list of Top QB's. That said, Hannon, probably deserves another look by FUBeAR.

FUBeAR fully expects Huff to take over #1 on this list - no less than #2 - by the end of 2023...so, if we can agree on Napier at #3 (FUBeAR could let Sorrells slide down a spot)...then we can end this convo.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
