Slay tweeted tonite he has an offer from GA So. Hope we can keep him.

Also have noticed new guys showing up as having offers that appear to be new offers, that are committed to places like Vandy, Syracuse, Temple.

Seems like maybe some places are updating their boards and pulling offers or poaching. Silly season.

Jordan Veneziale just committed to GaSt he was originally an MLB commit. - we lost him...
and now SLay tweets an offer to GA So - REALLY hope we don't lose him.

I HATE this junk with Goergia State and now GSU is FBS.. TOO MANY FREAKIN programs in the southeast. Hofstra shut theirs down. How about Mercer and Georgia State and Kennesaw State all shut down?? And about 15 others that have popped up. New programs or programs like Wofford and Samford going from D2 to FCS. One or two was fine but this is too many

My understanding is that he already selected Furman over a number of other FBS offers.

I know the coaches are stressed about keeping a class together for the next three weeks. These early signing periods, though, help schools like Furman not have to fend off poaching until February.

When do these guys hopefully sign? When do they officially commit and are locked in?

The first signing period is Dec 19-21.

Then another one in Feb.

Yes. Last year the NCAA imposed an earlier signing period that would fall before the ordinary "dark period" throughout the holidays.

The system is a big benefit to smaller schools. Furman can get most of its class locked up in December, and then focus more heavily on targeting a small handful of players instead of having to babysit 15 or 20 during January hoping another program does not come woo them away.

McKoy . Ellis. Hope ... now Slay if we keep him that's PHENOMENAL. Shame we lost Ellis on transfer. And Veneziale..is he definitely to Georgia State ?

We really want Slay.

The Veneziale de-commit is old news — happened early in the season. I'm not even going to try to guess what happened - we have to remember these are 17-18-year-olds and anything can happen.

I think we also should move on with Ellis too - again we can only guess and that's not healthy - whatever happened was between the defensive staff and Ellis.

Right now the DINS have an impressive haul on defense, and the coaches obviously aren't finished. Lots of offers out there - check the 2019 offer thread — Furman just offered a PWO to a Mike linebacker from Indiana.

Time will tell but it looks like Furman is seeking more PWOs this season, or maybe it's just more visible with players announcing they have PKO offers.

cave my bad… auto correct typed PKO not PWO - thanks for spotting and corrected.

I was wondering that myself. Always see PKO. I was trying to figure out how that was a PWO 🙂. I have been assuming those are partial Walk On

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
