Or a connection to play a football game at Army? They usually play 2FCS schools a year.

Will renovated Timmons have a hanging center scoreboard/videoboard?
If it doesn't that would be a big slap in the face in my opinion. It would be a shame to have everything else but lack a hanging center scoreboard. Fu hoopla will surely agree.......

Unless the roof is raised or the floor dug out, I don’t see there being enough height for a hanging center video board. I like the video boards on the ends of each side. It is much more comfortable to look at just above eye level than having to strain to look up. I hope we spend the money on a high quality video board, and not on making one work for the center. That is just me though, and I understand those that want what everybody else has.

I am fine not having a center scoreboard unless the video boards on both sides are high quality. Hopefully we don’t cheap out.

You said the football schedules were complete thru 2025. When will the several unknown games be announced?
That is a great question.

Furman playing a football game at Army has long been a wish of mine. Not that West Point is an especially easy place to which to travel.
We all know that we have someone in athletics with a connection for Furman to play a football game at Air Force. We can imagine several reasons why a game with Air Force has not materialized.
Over the past 10 or so years, Air Force has hosted the following FCS schools:
Nicholls (twice)
Northwestern State University
Colgate (twice)
Morgan State
Abilene Christian
VMI
Stony Brook
Lafayette
Northern Iowa
And over the next 4 seasons, Air Force will host the following FCS schools:
Robert Morris (2023)
Bucknell
Duquesne
Air Force obviously has no general rule that says they will not play FCS schools.

FYI- Army has 2 FCS games this year, 1 in 2024 with 2 games TBD, 1 FCS in 2025, schedule complete, 0 FCS in 2026 with 1 TBD only future FCS after 2025 is Citadel in ‘29 and ‘33 so it seems their scheduling of FCS teams is changing,

Not sure I understand what you mean where you said "so it seems their scheduling of FCS teams is changing".
Only 2023 and 2025 schedules are complete It appears they possibly have room for 1 or 2 FCS opponents every single year 2024-2034 except for 2025. Don't many of the FBS schools contract for FCS schools not too far out into the future? And isn't that even more true now than ever due to the anticipation of possibly major changes in Division 1 football.

Our previous AD is still the AD at Army correct? Seems like we have a connection there.
Yes but not sure it is a good one

I concur it would be cool to play Army, Navy, or Air Force, but the simple, pragmatic reasons it is unlikely:

1) Guarantees from those games aren’t enough.

2) Travel expenses are too high

FU will schedule a top-tier ACC or SEC foe for 2x the guarantee. That’s a fact, like it or not.

Money doesn’t talk at FU; it screams.

GoPaladins.com is the latest iteration of The Unofficial Furman Football Page. Launched in August of 1996, The UFFP welcomes fans of all FCS football teams - and fans of the more inferior sports, too - for discussion, cameraderie, and even the occasional smack talk.

For example, Furman has nearly twice as many Southern Conference football championships as the next best SoCon member, and over three times as many as The Citadel....which is why they must carry our luggage
