It's entirely defensible to have Villanova ranked and Furman not. Furman got pasted by Winthrop last year, was Winthrop a better team? No. That's just not how college basketball works. The transitive property isn't an option because you quickly start running into contradictions.

It's fun to have Furman in there, but for voters that take their vote seriously, it makes complete sense to omit the Paladins.

Villanova has beaten Canisius by 27, Oklahoma St by 19 and undefeated and 14th ranked Florida St .by 6.

Furman has beaten D2 and winless Southern Wesleyan by 17 and no D1 wins UNCA by 14,

Big advantage to 'Nova.

I'm not concerned with this for now. If we go undefeated during non-conference, we will be ranked. Heck, even if our only loss is a close one to LSU, we might have a shot.

Beating 1-5 Canisius is no better than beating UNCA, and lets just say beating Ok. St. and Fl. St. just gets them back to level with Furman after blowout to Michigan and head to head lose at home to Furman

I have watched all Furman games, in person or the tube. I’ve watched a lot of other teams on the tube. So far, Furman passes the eye test for one of the Top 25 teams.
