I would think that's almost all the OL for this class or maybe one more? I would guess we take maybe 3/4 OL per year so every 5 years you have 15-20? Or is that way off? I don't follow recruiting as much

That’s way off.

How could you have 15-20 of 63 schollies on just OL. Of course some may be partials or PWOs.

Bruce took 8 in his last 2 years and it’s why Clay could only sign one in each of his first 2 classes. Neely and Tomlin.

Paul, Right.

Primarily my thought was You need ten OL in two deep who are ready to play... That's not counting guys red shirting or young guys not yet playing as r-FR. . Hopefully those ten active players on OL are r-SO and older.
So you need about 14 OL on roster so we have ten playing and a few red shirting. and that doesn't count recruiting for players that leave? so seems we would need to get about 3 per year?

Question. Wouldn't Bo McKinney be a Clay recruit since he is a r-FR ???

Neeley is starting at center as a true sophomore, Tomlin is redshirting. McKinney was a walk-on, who has turned out to be valuable. I believe that's all the OL players that IMO will contribute that is Hendrix recruits.

Just my point of view here OL is going to be the one position that has a Hendrix stamp on it. This recruiting season Furman seems to be bringing in a bigger class maybe a total of 5-6 linemen.

Full scholarship commits; Jumper, Johanning, and Toomey… all three look impressive.
I believe Hughes and Soapes are PWO's. Why, do I say this - follow the tweets - the coaches will tweet a commitment (always turns out to be a full offer) they will like/retweet a commit from a player that usually turns out to be a walk-on. Not scientific but it follows a pattern.

BTW… Soapes has a ton of Furman/Greenville connections. His brother is in a manager/support role for the Football team. His dad was the GM for WYFF and Soapes was a student at St. Joe's until his dad was transferred to a station in Florida. He's a big kid.

Speculation here.

It looks like we will be focusing on filling out this class with some DTs and RBs. Hendrix's staff has never seemed to pass up the chance to land a quality defensive lineman. We also graduate at least 3 running backs, so I would expect that we would focus there as well.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see us keep a scholarship or two in our pocket for the transfer season.

lots of interesting offers still out there for Furman… have no idea who are priorities.

Based on offers, Furman is looking for a DT, another ILB, Safety, DB, QB, WRs, TB, QB.

CPA, Ingle Martin's team are playing for the state championship on Friday. Furman has one commit playing Bryce McCormick, Clemson has a commit playing, and two others have offers from Furman - Noah Henderson (3star) and Brett Nabors (2star) and Furman might still be in the mix for Wofford commit William Horne (LB) who might be Wofford's top recruit. All three made a visit for the Furman/Wofford game.

btw… Nabors on the far right is a 6-3 receiver, Horne is 6-1 190 on the left, McCormick is quite a bit bigger. It will be interesting to see what position he plays for Furman he's a two-way player for CPA TE/LB on a very talented team he is considered the most athletic - also plays basketball.

Tis the season. I expect a class of at least 16-18 scholarship guys. To come I see a QB and RB, or 2 RBs based on best available; TE, WR, 4th OL if the right guy commits; DL, LB (Chris Washington is not returning so depending on whether Slay is an OLB or ILB they will need the other), 2 or 3 DBs (definitely need a SAF). Now I didn't go to Wofford so I can count. There are trade offs, for instance if you get the 4th OL you subtract elsewhere. I've got 20 or 21 on my wish list depending on a PK. A trend I've noticed on coach follows are guys with really high test scores, so there could be some partials.

Same here… follow who follows who. There are a couple of players that fit what you said - high test score players. If I was to bet I think you'll see one or two more from Gville.

TE is an interesting position to follow. We've really sort of had a hodgepodge there as the position group was nearly barren when Hendrix arrived. Two guys - Walker and Miller - saw virtually all the snaps on that side of the ball this season.

I do not recall seeing Dillon Vann playing much at TE. I suppose that if the coaching staff finds a guy they like at that position you might be able to move Vann back to OLB, where he had some pretty good success in 2017.

That's the interesting mix and match of an FCS program. You may need a linebacker, but that guy may already be on the roster but can only move if you find depth at his current position.

Slay is listed as an OLB he's 6-1 220 and looks ready to play. I would think we keep him at OLB.
Furman was able to redshirt Gilby and Hackett both MLB, add McCormick maybe???
Jalen Miller played linebacker/strong safety at Byrnes, he has SPUR written all over him.
Jordan Veneziale just committed to GaSt he was originally an MLB commit.
Just a guess we're going to get one more linebacker in this class.

Linebacker is finally going to start getting some depth.

At ILB, we should return both starters. Owen played a bunch as well. Maybe add in Voyles and have the redshirt depth of Gilby and Hackett.

At OLB, we lose Washington, but that loss may be mitigated some by Adrian Hope. The Bandit position should return Willis, Porter, and add talented Wilkins.
