Why do they call it the Myrtle Beach invitational when games are played no where close to MB?
FUBeAR loves to give the Beech Cheekins a hard time, but Conway to MB is only 5 miles more than GVL to TR…so we might tread lightly on the geographical elaborations as we do wanna be “Greenville’s Team”… yes?

It’s an ok field, no power 5 teams. Last year they had 2 P5 teams. Why do they call it the Myrtle Beach invitational when games are played no where close to MB?
Obviously, it is called the MB Invitational because of the draw of Myrtle Beach vs. Conway. Can you imagine playing in the Conway Invitational? I would expect every team stays in MB since it is only 9 miles away.

As for last year, Colorado was just an average team. Texas A&M made the Big Dance but got blown out by Penn State in the first round. I would argue the tournament is better this year with Furman and College of Charleston in it. After all, we have all argued in the past that P5 teams are overrated.

Sounds like you are confusing the 2 different tourneys. At least it reads that way. Last year FU was IN the Charleston Classic this years theY are in the Myrtle Beach invitatiinal.

Not confused - just showing the rankings of the teams from Charleston Classic 2022 and Myrtle Beach Invite 2023. Very similar distribution of rankings. I am not disappointed in the field. P6 teams don’t want to play quality mid-majors at neutral sites. So the best options is to play top midmajor. Furman wins against the top teams in this MBI tournament would be valuable.

Ticket booklets that include all 12 games will be around $140
Last year, the ticket pre-sale rates of $130 to $145 ran from July 28 to August 31. I have a feeling that with Coastal, Charleston and Furman involved, prices will go up.
