2019 Tournament #7 WC beat #10 Seton Hall 84-68, lost to #2 Kentucky 68-62. Furman and VMI were in the sweet 16 in the 7O’s but it was different then.
NEXT YEAR
It was a fun ride this season, but watching us against SDSU a few things stood out. Speed and size. Bothwell was a step slow compared to their players, same with others. We are a good SoCon team but speed is one place we got crushed in. The other is size. Gosh we are small and their big men just killed us. Need that as well as speed. And lastly, I would use more zone defenses. The 1-3-1 was good, but again their big men weren't fazed. Use a combo of 1-3-1 and 1-2-2.
Now, all that being said, we did a fine job this season, and as many of us have said for years - this is where you make your brand. Basketball and March Madness. More people now know about Furman than ever before. Gotta keep the coach, and I really hope size and speed are next years recruiting priorities.

You have to go back to Davidson (2008) with Seth Curry to see a SoCon team in Elite Eight. They went 20-0 in conference that year.

We were able to replace Croone when he graduated in 2016
We were able to replace Acox when he graduated in 2017
We were able to replace JDIII, Fowler, Sibley, & Beans when they graduated in 2018
We were able to replace Rafferty & Brown when they graduated in 2019
We were able to replace Lyons when he graduated in 2020
We were able to replace Mounce & Gurley when they graduated in 2021
We were able to replace Hunter & Garrison when they graduated in 2022
We'll be able to replace Bothwell & Slawson when they graduate this year. Onward!
