Our offense is a perfect matchup against the pack line. In general UVA is the perfect matchup for us. Over Richey’s tenure we’ve fared better vs teams that aren’t exceedingly athletic and apply a ton of pressure in the passing lanes(maybe besides Auburn 2019 we played very well). On defense we struggle with teams that have a ton of size and can really crash the glass on offense. All of these things are the opposite of UVA. They don’t contest the passing lanes whatsoever and focus on getting back-on defense vs crashing the glass. In terms of our specific Princeton 5-out style Vs the pack line It also should work in our favor. If you remember the UMBC upset they stretched out the pack line as much as possible with a lot of shooters on the court and if you do that like we do, you’re going to get good looks from 3 we just have to hit them. But our motion can cause problems for them as well. They hard hedge all ball screens which relies on backside coverage and our constant off ball actions(cutting, pin downs) and dribble handoffs they’re gonna be in a lot of uncomfortable spots and we’re gonna the looks we want. On offense they run a lot of ball screens and I expect us to be able to switch a lot. Also another note, may need to go in expecting a big offensive performance from slawson, pegues, supporting cast because UVA has ACC defensive player of the year Reece Beekman and you can expect him to be guarding Bothwell.
