The Furman story is a sportswriters dream.
1. Slawson and Bothwell come back to avenge last year's devastating loss and actually get it done!
2. Coach Richey last year "We're going to get back to that Championship game and we're going to cut down those nets!"
3. J.P. Pegues left off All-SoCon teams and wins MVP of Tourney.
Those stories write themselves. You couldn't make it up any better. The national media is starting to pick up on it already. Cinderella has already been born.
I love # 3. Almost an embarrassment. But Pegues was even better in the tourney than he was late in the season. If he had been hitting his 3’s in the last two games, he would have been even more impressive. Between his drives and his lack of turnovers, he is amazing.
Granted he did not play much last year and started slow this year, I think he could be one of the best guards to play at Furman and could be POY the next two years.
